Please find in this thread my new software named "The Vault".
The Vault is a powerful tool which helps you to manage your decks and collections for trading card games (TCG) & collective card games (CCG).
The Vault is a multi-game platform, able to manage simultaneously different TCG/CCG. The most famous of all of them, namely Magic the Gathering, is of course hostable on The Vault.
A powerful "advanced search" tool, comprehensive statistics and an intuitive and friendly interface make it very easy to build your decks, follow your collection growth, print proxies, export/import in many formats.
------------------------------
REQUIREMENTS TO RUN CORRECTLY THE SOFTWARE
------------------------------
1/ OS : Any OS supporting Microsoft Framework .NET & Microsoft Office Web Components, with at least 1GB RAM.
------------------------------
CARD SCANS AND THEMES
------------------------------
By default, the theme loaded when the software starts is located in the './data/pics' folder. If you want another theme to be displayed (a theme specifically adapted to the selected CCG for example), you must choose it manually in the 'Options' menu, section 'Graphics', and you browse the folder which contains all the images for the theme. Some additional themes are usually available with GamePack, and can be found in the './games/Game_Name/data/pics', where Game_Name is the name of the selected CCG.
By default, scans are supposed to be stored in the './games/Game_Name/pics' folder. You have the opportunity to choose your own storage folder in the 'Options' menu, section 'Card scans' (It may be the case if you collect the HQ scans from slightlymagic for example). No card scans are joined with any GamePacks. Many image formats and options are available in the 'Options' menu, section 'Card scans'. HQ scans from Slightlymagic of scans from Cockatrice are supported by The Vault, provided that you correctly configure the options (format, cropping etc.)
------------------------------
LANGUAGES
------------------------------
Files related to the software are located in the './data/language' folder.
By default, only English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese (Brazil) are available, but of course translations in other languages are very welcome. But please note those files are only concerning the software itself. If you want to translate files related to a selected game, language files are located in the './games/Game_Name/data/characteristics' folder. Changing the language in a language supported by the software, but not locally by the selected game may cause instability and crashes.

1/ Do you have plans to build a gaming table?
2/ It will make the program open source?
3/ Works on other operating systems (other than windows)?
1/ Yep, but it's lot of work. I'm also wondering about legality of such a gaming program anyway...
2/ Not for the moment, for personal reason.
3/ As soon as I'm MS .NET dependent, you will probably need a Windows Emulator to work it properly on other operating systems.
Your problem is due to the fact the border of your window (because of your windows theme) are very wide. Much wider than Default Theme with Windows Vista. Thus, the clientsize for Win Vista is now the size for your window. I will fix the display to get rid of this phenomenon.
I mean scrolling to the right to view the rarity i cannot see the name of the cards anymore.
>> It will be resizable of course. It's not for the moment because it wasn't considered as a key element for the 0.1 beta version, because you're supposed to look cards by name/set or to use the Advanced Search Panel for more sophisticated filters. But it will be done in the next release.
Do you have any clue as to why the extractor doesn't actually download all 3 different images of the forest and only downloads 1 of them, and additionally even though i have this 1 forest image in my folder and all other images are working, the forest does not show up with either of the 3 forest entries in the data package in The Vault.
It just looks really awkward when printing proxies, cause the only lands that do have images are not standard legal, and thats just a bit annoying
You must pay more attention when using the Gatherer Extractor. If you download only the main data + card scans, the program does not check if alternative versions of the cards exist or not. You have to download all the data if you want all the altenative versions.
Moreover, I'm sure you choose to name the scan files by card names. You'll get Forest.full.jpg if you download only the main data + scans. You'll get Forest1.full.jpg, Forest2.full.jpg etc if you download all the data, as all the alternative data will also be downloaded.
The Vault database provides all the cards, including the alternative versions. If you choose "by name" in the scan options, The Vault will expect files formatted like Forest1.full.jpg. If the file you mentioned is named Forest.full.jpg, it won't be found by the Vault. I'm pretty sure problems you're encountering with basic lands are also present for massive alternative-card sets, such as Alliances.
Last but not least, every Forest cards are legal in Standard, whatever the set they're coming from. Forests from Alpha set ARE legal in Standard.
In the same way, for example, Barter in blood from Mirrodin IS legal in Standard or even in the Innistrad Block, as it was reprinted in Avacyn Restored.
May you please post here an example of a file generated by Magician of a collection. I will definitely add the importation from Magician in the next release.
your software looks great and i want to try it, but i encountered a problem trying to import my collection.
when i press "import collection" its searching for .mwDeck file type, when it should be .mwInventory or better yet a .csv file for greater compatibility with other programs.
the Magician file isn't a CSV file (at least, I don't see any , in it to separate the values). Now if it was possible to import/export from a spreadsheet such as Office (or in my case, LibreOffice/OpenOffice) it'd be great, but I'll give this a go and see if it'll run under Wine. If not, then I'll toss it in my VM and run it from that.
EDIT: Scratch WINE as it does require the secondary component. I'll just use it under my VM Win XP Pro.
I tried it before asking, but couldn't get it right. I have the correct directory and the name works if I rename the file without the ".full", I'm not using crops so the only option left is the "separation mark"
I tried add ".full" to the "separation mark" field, but it didn't work
Can you please tell me what parameters should I use if all my files are named "Cadname.full" (they are the ones from slightly magic)?
— Added card pricing from retail websites for cards and collection (for deck, coming soon) :
— Added deck (.dck) importation from Magician.
— Added list/collection (.lst) importation from Magician.
— Added option in deck contextmenu to add the whole deck to a collection.
— Added option in collection contextmenu to add a whole collection to a collection.
— Fixed bug in MagicWorkstation deck importation as collection
— Fixed minor bugs
— Enhanced collection handling.
— Enhanced selection of the linked collection of a deck.
It seems like a bunch of the ol' Magic collection manager softwares are late to the game on RTR. Some (like MTGStudio, which has been my primary software) look to be slowly dying out altogether.
Currently, it looks like the Vault is one of (if not the only) softwares to actually be updated to include RTR, Planechase 2012, Izzet v Golgari, etc... So my congrats on making a good and useful software! I hope this software will be around for a while!
A couple questions...
What are your recommendations for efficiently adding ones' collection to the Vault? This is always a lengthy process with any software, but it seems like the Vault could benefit from some keyboard shortcuts or just quicker ways of adding to the Collection. I find searching for a card name, clicking that card name, and then clicking the arrow to add to collection to be VERY slow. Any tips or updates to improve this process would be greatly appreciated. On that note, can the Vault handle a large collection of 10,000 cards or more? Or will it get bogged down? My initial try at working with 5000+ cards didn't go so well...
Also on that note, the Vault includes an option to import deck from TXT file. What is the format of such a TXT file? I can export MTGStudio collections to Excel, so I could easily convert the relevant columns to a TXT file if I knew the format you used.
Another user mentioned CSV import. I think that would be good too. You could just specify yourself how the data should be formatted and anyone with basic spreadsheet knowledge could reformat a csv to the format you require... Seems like you would just need 3 values: Card Name, Edition Name (or abbreviation), Quantity. That said, CSV could prove complicated since many card names have commas in their names. Perhaps a different delimiter would be better... like a bar | or something... but then we're just back to a TXT file pretty much.
1/ I know it's very slow to click many times in order to add an entry in the collection. I'm definitely planning to add keyboard shortcuts. The time required to process a 5000+ card collection is not that long. The limiting thing is the number of entries into the collection, not the number of cards itself. I'm testing the efficiency of the Vault with a 1500+ entry collection and it's pretty OK. Of course, if I can improve the process of handling collections, I will do it.
2/ I know I should write a comprehensive handbook, but it takes so much time... To import txt files as deck, the file must be formatted as this :
...
2 Force of Will
3 Daze
4 Tropical Island
4 Tarmogoyf
...
Sideboard:
3 Pithing Needle
...
In few words, this is exactly what you can obtain from Copy/Paste-ing deck lists from "Top8" websites. I'm planning to add a "hot" txt import just by Copy/Paste-ing.
3/ Yes, csv or xls(x) imports would be pretty nice. I'm already using csv files for Gatherer Extractor, and I'm using | as separator mark, because as mentioned, you may find commas in some card names.
In addition, I still have so many things to add. Here is my "to do" list:
— csv, xls, xlsx imports
— enable shortcuts
— moveable separation between database card list and deck/collection tables
— Deck pricing
— A subroutine to check completeness of a collection given some criteria
— A deck Explorer
— A collection Explorer
— Filtered database statistics
— Pricing database statistics
— Write a handbook

For Avacyn Restored, the software doesnt need to be updated.

Just download the MTG gamepack. I don't know how you csv is formatted, making hard to directly import csv databases...

I'm just back from summer holidays. An update is expected to be released on September.
Magician files importation will be added for sure.
EDIT: Scratch WINE as it does require the secondary component. I'll just use it under my VM Win XP Pro.
An update of The Vault to v0.3 will come really soon. You'll find card pricing etc.
