Looking at MTG Arena Pro, its like 1/3 of the matches seem to include RDW decks. Each week, it is by far the #1 deck used.
Now, I know, for me, why I use RDW decks all the time - becuase that's really all i got. RDW was the first playable deck I got and everything else is still many many Rares out of reach. WW, which tends to trend in the 2-3 slots, I am getting close to being able to build a deck, but I find even when I am 70-80% there, the rigged-together version seems to pale in comparison. The cards I am missing are the critical ones. Plus, there is a lot of dual lands I really need.
It's rather strong, somewhat cheap and it is fast so the grind is quicker.

This is true for probably the vast majority of the F2P crowd - they make RDW because it's fairly wildcard cheap and is a good deck for ladder climbing. As we're seeing more and more from paper results, it's not as great in Bo3 settings but in Bo1 you can just go full aggro and you get there more often than not.
The effort to make a second and third deck is exponentially higher than what it takes to make the first one (speaking as someone who started when open beta came out, hard to believe it's been 8 months) and with the rewards for getting to plat and mythic so powerful it makes sense that people will take the most efficient route to get there.
If you want to prey on the RDW decks, the BW preconstructed deck has a good core. Add some more lifegain and you'll just outlast them.

RDW was the first playable deck I got and everything else is still many many Rares out of reach.
This I feel is probably the main reason why, everyone netdecks how many rares they might need for a decent B01 deck, and RDW is the quickest to assemble.
FWIW, I do find the match generator does pair RDW up against decks with a heavy lifegain theme, so it's not like it's downhill skiing.
I'm in the same boat...I only started Arena like 6 weeks ago, RDW was the easiest to build, so that's what I have. It's also a pretty easy deck to play so I imagine this, combined with the ease of access, is the reason its the most popular.
TBH I'm already super bored of playing the same deck over and over...I wish I could play other decks. I watch for interesting strategies while I play and when I see something that looks fun I look into it further and build a deck with cards that I do and do not have. I have a list of about 20 decks I'd like to build and try out, but ALL of them require a lot of cards I just don't have. Its going to take a lot of grinding and drafting to get what I need...its a major disadvantage for new players. I imagine anyone who has been around the game for a while and has had the opportunity to draft from all the sets will have a great card base to build from. I've only had WAR drafts for the most part, so that part of my collection is pretty fleshed out; RVA draft is coming soon....that's a big need for me.
At least there are sites like Arena Pro where you can enter in craft lists and keep track of things you need...once the game is older I bet the meta is a little more evened out among other decks.
Personally I don't find RDW to be the problem.
For me it's Esper. It doesn't matter what deck I play that's fun, I end up playing against Esper all the time, and it's very hard to beat. I can't wait for big Teferi to rotate.
FWIW, I hope the game matures into a platform that can provide not only Standard duels, but multiplayer, Modern, maybe even something more fun like Legacy.
yea its generally cheap and easy but also in a balanced format the mono red deck should be the fastest deck. Its a strategic choice to say, "I'm going to play the fastest deck in the format and I'm going to win unless my opponent can slow me down significantly."

2) more fun (subjectively ofc but still) than mono blue aggro
3) cheap.
