After 6 hours a day, for a month and a half and not winning one game, I think that was trying to tell me it's time to call it quits?. I did give it my all for that time - trying netdecks, watching guides, playing the pre-mades, searching the web for more decks. Nothing worked. I mean to put that much time and effort into it, and not progressing anywhere, getting slaughtered EVERY game..was it just a waste of time?
I started playing between Weatherlight and Tempest. I've been in pretty much most prereleases from Worldwake, 2 GPs (2012-2013), several weekly PTQs and Standards/Drafts since Theros. Never really won much.
As for Arena - I just find it too difficult. No matter what I do, seems opponents ALWAYS have the counter for it. I've stuck to one or 2 decks for days (MANY hours) trying to work out how to run the deck/s...but nothing.
What decks do you play? I must admit, I also have this feeling that my opponents are always better off in one way or another (especially in draft, where I usually only win three games at most, losing to people who draw and play two rares and a mythic in first five turns, while I didn't open a single playable card at a higher rarity). But it is possible to manage to win more than you lose, even without paying money if you make a few right meta calls. I am currently playing GR Stompy and it works like a charm, with winrate at somewhere around 70%. I actually built the deck to be able to finish off Nexus decks with Banefire or Fling after seeing more and more of them and sorely losing with my other brews, regardless of adjustments I made to them.

standard: BUG The Baron (it doesn't work, but I try anyway)
I've tried all kinds. It doesn't seem to matter what I play. I don't do draft on Arena - too expensive (and have to win 5000 coins to starts with)
I started with Rakdos Vehicles -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTCZousI51c&t=2s this deck. I tried mono red (Bomat, Ahn Crop, Kari Zev and so on). Mono green with Steel leaf, Lanowar, Rhonas etc. Mono black with Gifted Aetherborn and Gllint sleeve..so on.
There's a saying about knowledge - you can divide your expertise into 4 categories: not knowing what you know, knowing what you know, knowing what you don't know, and not knowing what you don't know. You are in the "not knowing what you don't know" phase when it comes to sucking at Magic. You're bad and you don't know what you're doing wrong (likely you also don't know when you do things right).
If you'd like to get better, or if you'd like some closure, the best way forward is to join forces with somebody who can perceive right vs wrong strategies and have them play with you over skype/discord/twitch. You already tried simulating the success of others but that hasn't worked. Try playing with live help and have them point out mistakes as you make them. A successful friend would be the best help, but if you don't know anybody, there's always twitch chat to roast you.
I took about 10 years off from magic and came back. It was essentially like starting from scratch. Still, I watched people play on youtube, twitch and studied the staple cards and deck archetypes for a couple of weeks. Slapped together a $150 8 Rack deck and went and placed top 4 out of 20 my first time out. As for playing Arena, the mechanics are the same for the most part but the card pool is different. Really, you have to play and study to do well. You have to know what to play and when and have a good idea what your opponent has and when they might play it. This can be done with some study.
Also, at least in my experience, you quite often get matched up against higher players. Arena isn't *really* newbie friendly. I agree with mcrow; study the netdecks (that's how I learnt to play against the U slither blade deck).
