I am wondering how this game is projected to evolve and when it will die and be replaced with an entirely new game?
I also play paper MTG, and am trying to decide how much $$$$ to sink into Duels. As we buy boosters and get new cards, will there be a rotation; will Zendikar block rotate out of Duels eventually? Will Duels be BFZ and SOI blocks and then just die entirely as a game? What is going to happen with this game?
Good questions that I wonder about as well. My guess would be that the game will become it's own meta version of Modern as new sets get released. It's card restrictions also create a unique meta.
Maybe someone will link us to an article where WOTC answers our questions.

I'm fairly confident I will think of something to say. Active Player: 1994-1999, 2016-
I hope so. I really enjoy the medium (i.e., as an Xbox One game) and would be willing to spend a lot more on it if I knew that my cards would follow me from release to release of the game, that Duels will eventually have multiple formats (e.g., commander, modern), etc.
For instance, if WotC says that Duels will always be Duels, that even when new consoles come out and new releases of the game, and that my cards will follow me from console to console and through future versions of the game, OMGZ take my money!
Right now the only possible candidate for a "new" platform is the much-rumored Magic NEXT. Even then, when Wizards released Duels it was said that this would be the only new software released in the medium and that it would just get updates. Since I run the Steam version I've got no problems when moving to a new PC but I've no clue how they're gonna handle it with consoles.
As disappointing as it may sound, I wouldn't bet on it given that currently Duels isn't cross-compatible...

RIP Magic Duels. Wizards will regret what they did to you.
