So, I'm at the point where I have to face the Sliver deck and my U/W Control deck just can't cut the mustard. I'd like to try another one but I don't have the cards for anything that's reasonable. How do I unlock the other "Starter" decks? Is there something I need to buy? Some challenge I need to beat? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I came looking for the same answer...none yet. I know for a fact you can unlock other starter decks because I've done it for two of them...though the game didn't bother to tell me when that happened, much less why. But it can be done! Under notifications, it mentions "archtype unlocked," but again, no word on what I did to do so.

Yep, same thing happened to me. I unlocked the U/B and U/G decks but I have no idea how/when.

I'm having the same problem. It's so annoying - WOTC simply cannot get their digital act together, despite this being the third iteration. The menus in DOTP 2015 are particularly unusable, and the way the options scroll is extremely imprecise too. Sometimes I don't understand how DOTP was attributed as the "gateway drug" to more cardboard MTG players when it's so difficult to enjoy.
I've now unlocked all ten decks. They seem to be connected to the "Explore" nodes on each Plane. Seems like they unlock a random deck, though, so I can't say for sure. Also, I completely agree that the UI is horrible on an iPad and it sucks battery life like crazy.

I think I had to finish Innistrad before it mentioned deckbuilding/naming/boxing. Not that I could build anything out of the dozen other cards I got in the meantime. After that, you should be able to select/create decks in the deck menu. It also runs you through how to use sorting, which is the crux of deckbuilding. If you change your sorting (which it shows is accessed by pressing up), you get different assortments to add to the deck. If you pick red, the add queue has all red cards in it. If you then pick blue, all red/blue cards will be shown, etc.
Beat the game tonight on PC ... I've been going back through and collecting more cards to change up my decks. I started UB, but there were some fights I just couldn't take with that.
I would suggest going GW if you have the cards. And if you don't, you can cont. to play the 'Explore ________' over and over to get more boosters. It cycles through about four or five scenarios on each plane, until you face the Planeswalker for each one. That pack will have more rares in it than the others.
My current deck that I'm doing well with is something like this.
24 land
3 Elvish Pioneer (fantastic on the first turn)
1 Cultivate
3 Raise the Alarm
3 Triplicate Spirits
1 Seraph of the Masses
2 Scion of the Wild
1 Soul of Zendikar
2 Beastmaster Ascension (insane in this deck)
2 Selesnya Evangel (does a lot of heavy lifting)
2 Phantom General
2 Mentor of the Meek
1 Siege Wurm
1 Baneslayer Angel
Some other stuff. I'd play the pump spell in green that counts your creatures and adds +1/+1 trample for each, too. You get the idea. We're talking on turn five or six, attacking with 6 6/6 creatures (Beastmaster Ascension), or sometimes just flooding the board with 2/2s or 1/1s and being able to sneak in four or five damage every turn all while protecting yourself. I'm only about 350 or so of the total 1000 cards in, but this build is handling things for me on the hardest setting. If you're having difficulty, give it a try.
Yeah, I can only assume (or demand) that every card that is played can be obtained. Unlike the old iterations where your decks were set, there's nothing stopping the programmers from adding all the cards they've already programmed into packs.
Oh, and there's been lots of discussion of how there's a maximum some 900 cards. I did some quick math and think that has to do with the maximum number of cards it's possible to own in the game, considering the collection limits of 4 of each common, 3 of each uncommon, 2 of each rare, and 1 of each mythic rare.
You get the other starter decks that match the color you chose at the end of the tutorial as you beat chapters starting with the second one. Those are the only ways to unlock starter decks without directly unlocking the cards that were in them through booster packs.
It seems to be different for different people. I'm playing the PC version and have beaten Innistrad, Theros and Ravnica and cleared out the Explore modes for all three, but still only have access to my Golgari Starter deck.
Of course I've farmed enough packs I've built five more, but still can't access any other starters. A friend says some (but not all) of the others unlock after beating the game.

I finished grinding for the full card collection yesterday, and I can tell you this isn't the case. There was actually a huge reason for the programmers not to do this: Creating fun, balanced multiplayer without sacrificing the needs of the single player campaign. Of course, they went and screwed the former up with premium packs, but still.
Oh, and the decks unlock once you've collected all the cards in them. They're meant as a jumping-off point for noobs to deckbuild, and they're annoying as heck since you have to scroll past all of them to get to the "custom deck" option.
See, there wasn't even any indication that the Explore (plane) stage had multiple scenarios. I swear sometimes WOTC seems to release digital products that doesn't seem to have any UAT behind them.
Agreed. I only randomly figured out that I could farm the Explore sections after reading through the Achievements. One of them is like "Finish Exploring Each Plane" or something like that. I then went back and discovered that they kept giving me boosters for beating the same scenarios, over again.
You pick your starting color, then pick one of the five decks associated with that color. Along the way you unlock cards by winning matches. After you defeat Avacyn on Innistrad they open up the full deckbuilding screen. When you go to create a new deck, you can start one from scratch, or you can build one based on one of the 10 starter decks. But you can only build off one of the starter decks if you have all of the cards contained in that starter deck(either because it was your initial choice, or because you've unlocked them along the way). In my case, I bought the "Complete Edition" of the game on Steam, which came with all of the Card Collections for each plane. Once I had defeated Avacyn, it unlocked those Card Collections, so I had access to all the non-Premium cards. That meant I could start a deck build off of any one of the ten starter decks right away. Which would explain why I was a bit confused when I first started reading posts from people who couldn't.
From reading this thread I can see that while initial reports were that DOTP2015 is terrible, it seems that it might not be TOO BAD once things start getting unlocked. I mean, premium boosters are pretty retarded in what is normally a one cash drop game that can while away some hours on a train or plane, but other than that it looks like the custom deckbuilding does kind of work.
I will get the game despite the reviews upon release. I will also tell my friends that the other archetypes are accessible because some of my friends are seriously stuck.

A suggestion, like, "oh BTW you have all the cards for this decklist, you could try it out if you want.
This is how I assumed it worked.
Interested in Custom Card Creation.
