I can see it happening, especially if we get Karn joining the gatewatch! I don’t think it’ll happen before a Return to Ravinca first given what happened on Ixalan!
Even if karn does tell them, they're not going to go there without reason. The eldrazi and bolas both brought the fight to something personal to at least one member of the gatewatch recently. Our current cast has more or less been pretty insulated from Phyrexia.
If you swap Chandra for koth, teferi for Jace, elspeth for giddeon (if she's alive), karn for Ugin and bring in a green and/ or black walker that cares about about it then you have a crew that starts looking like it's up to the task with enough emotional investment to do something about it.
Tezzeret is the tie between bolas and new phyrexia for now, but like lim dul I can see him trading one master for another. Should bolas be temporarily handled via Ugin and the gatewatch then you set up nicely to swap the cast with a bit of storywork and start up the next saga.
With a ravnica return lurking, who knows when this will actually take place. We also still have Nahiri (who is potentially unstable), ob nixilis (who is probably going to try and get some power back and has already had a run in with the gatewatch), and garruk out there doing whatever it is that garruk does (while I think the hunter shctick is kinda cool - he isn't strong enough to feasible hunt anyone of import yet. I'm fairly certain bolas, Ugin, karn etc would wipe the floor with him).
Another option to tie the stories together is that Bolas needs something from Ravnica that will help him control the Phyrexian oil. This could give both team Karn and the Gatewatch a common goal in defeating Bolas, since it would end the Bolas threat AND initiate the first step in preventing the Phyrexians spreading. Remember, we don't know everything Jace read in Azor's mind. Perhaps when Karn tells Jace about the Phyrexians something clicks for Jace, and he realizes Bolas's plans are even more layered then he thought. That something could be something that somehow kickstarts the Phyrexians as an interplanar threat, which then falls in both team Karn's and the Gatewatch's segment.
Honestly though, I think it's more likely that after Bolas is defeated, the now free Tezzeret assumes the role of father of machines (he is already immunized to the oil). Given the planar bridge in his arm, he is the one that can make the Phyrexians interplanar. It would be a perfect fit too, as he has no qualms with "improving" himself mechanically. Could make for a nice hook to revisit Alara too, as the recipe for recreating etherium has been rediscovered now. Tezz could try to create his own army of super soldiers with etherium augmented phyrexians with built in planar bridges - or make that a return of the sleeper agents.

The secret to enjoyable Commander games is not winning first, but losing last.

I feel like we could be going to Theros to pick up Elspeth before fighting phyrexians. With all the enchantment love in Dominaria its not a far reach to say that we are heading to Theros this Fall or in a year from now. Ravnica seems to be a finale of sorts so I'm betting we see Theros and maybe Phyrexia before Ravnica.

As much as I'd hate to see this happen, the "Noble Work" being corrupted into the "Great Work" is something I always placed in the realm of possibility.

Ok....if I actually lived in the Multiverse.....this seems absolutely terrifying and quite possibly right on the money....Wizards are you listening...fantastic thinking Ertai

Been a member here for over a dozen years. Playing since '95 just got lost in the twitch shuffle.

It was Breya who rediscovered how to make Etherium, so unless Tezz managing to do this independently is canon, I wonder how that would play out.

If Test of Metal is still considered canon, then Tezzeret figured out how to do it while he was on the metal island. When he cuts open his arm and shoves it into the Blind Eternities, it comes back with a small fleck of etherium attached to his bone. I have no idea how a non-walker like Breya would figure this out, but apparently she did.
First sorry to necro this Thread but i'd like to present my theory about this which kinda fits in this direction.
If bolas would need something from Ravnica he would use a spy and extract it via the planar bridge.
If he sees Ravanica as a target he would most likely manipulate someone to attack it and i have a bad feeling that this someone is Phyrexia imagine phyrexia attacking Ravnica.
All the planeswalker rushing in and trying to defend it and after they all are there he uses this nice little something called Immortal sun and jails them all.
AND Even if they'd lose to Phyrexia and get corrupted they are jailed on the plane!
Sounds like something bolas might do don't you think?
Since the GRN block is being billed as the conclusion to the Bolas I think we are going to see:
Bolas is betrayed by Tezzeret, who has been hiding waaaay more etherium than Bolas knows about.
Tezzeret returns to New Phyrexia, only to find it mostly unified, makes a play with the Gitaxians to take control of the Panopticon and bump Elesh Norn as the defacto leader.
The Progress Engine realizes that Tezzeret is not loyal to Phyrexian ideals (or has known since NPH) and turn on him.
Tezzeret loses his arm and the heart of the planar bridge before 'walking away.
The Phyrexians begins searching for the other planes infected by Karn while he was 'walking to figure out if the oil took hold.

the theory is simply karn tells the gatewatch about the phyrexians
