I love Moonfolk. Love them. My only hopes are that Jason Chan isn't the illustrator, and that one of his/her abilites involves returning lands to the hand.
Not a practiced hand at the game of speculation, I would nevertheless presume that he/she is blue, taking into consideration the admittedly small pool of other Soratami. Black and blue or white and blue would make sense storywise, but Venser and Tezzeret are still relatively recent to be followed up with a similarly colored planeswalker.
I don't mind being proven wrong come the end of April, though.

This doesn't look like Jason Chan's work.
I could probably try and name a few based on the small picture we have, but it doesn't have the same sort of comic-esque cut to the facial anatomy that Chan's work has.

A thought that comes to mind is that there isn't a female blue planeswalker card. Between Elspeth, Nissa, Lili, and Chandra, we need the feminine touch in Magic's most iconic color.
Whereas Jace is draw/mill and Tezz is all about artifacts, she could easily represent counterspells, -X/-0, or the Mind's Desire/Brilliant Ultimatum/Chancellor of the Spires effect. As far as I can recall, the major mechanics of the other colors are already represented on their planeswalkers, but blue still has tricks not yet put into print in that form.
It's the same thing with Baga, Avon or Chippy. They're all the same kind of artists who can pull off crazy stuff, but rarely get that opportunity because Magic's art hasn't been about pushing boundaries for years.
As Barinellos mentioned, the teaser picture doesn't resemble Chan's work. But when we get to the actual card with a potentially different picture, I don't want some lifeless Moonfolk staring vacantly at the viewer. Planeswalkers can and should look dynamic; This isn't Yugioh or Pokemon where the viewer is scanning furtively through their cards between gulps of chocolate milk, trying not to catch Mrs. Forbisher the cafeteria monitor's attention. Magic art is worth the time it takes to figure out.

That diss on Yugioh and Pokemon was kinda unfounded and pointless. I mean MTG art is still bottom of the barrel compared to L5R.

It wasn't meant to be a "diss"; Pokemon and Yugioh artwork is almost universally one figure in front of a background. I'm not saying the art isn't good, just that Magic's is more than variations on a lone theme. But calling Magic's illustrations bottom of the barrel is debatable, considering many American trading card games work with the same pool of freelance artists.
This is all secondary to the possibility that from the ashes of Kamigawa, a Moonfolk planeswalker will appear on Innistrad with his/her hands in their pockets asking "So... what'd I miss?" A Soratami planeswalker makes up for years of playing second fiddle to the Vedalken.
I'd say Dapper Devil is more likely to be the lithomancer, and I don't even think any printed planeswalker is going to be the lithomancer. Ugin was pretty much out of commission by the time Rise of the Eldrazi started, and if the lithomancer weren't at least similarly out of commission by ROE, he would have showed up with Sorin on Zendikar.
My speculation is that the lithomancer is dead (and Sorin had the decency to attend his funeral).
My speculation is that the lithomancer is dead (and Sorin had the decency to attend his funeral).
Though I’m sure that was tongue in cheek, I’ll just point out that Sorin, for whatever reason, believes the lithomancer should be alive. He was expecting him/her to show up after all.
Otherwise, let’s stop speculating about the lithomancer here please. There is no evidence for this yet, so let’s stick to the facts, okay?
Also, tsuki-usagi (japanese moon face) -> moon-hare -> moon-heron. She must have just misheard them.
:D:D:D:D:D:D
About the one who said that Kamigawa events happened eons ago.... well, at the end of the story, certainly Kamigawa was saved, right? That means there are still Soratami around, even if they are new guys, descendants of the old-time Soratami. If this Soratami is a planeswalker visiting Innistrad, we only need to know then why.
Too bad the wiki doesn't exactly say how long a moonfolk live. If their lifespan is relatively the same as common humans, then she definitely is a new guy, otherwise, who knows.

We know it is a new guy. MaRo already said the AVR walkers are characters we had never seen before about two weeks ago.

I didn't mean to imply MTG art is bad, it's not, not at all. Just bad (IMO) compared to L5R.
As for the Yugioh and Pokemon art, I understand it's all like that, as nothing but the creature matters, it's his card, he's the only thing that needs to be on it. Anyways, no more sidetracking, so I wont post anymore off topic stuff on this thread.

Well then, let's all brace for impact and hope that this PW didn't appear in AVR just because it needed to be introduced and she has nothing to do whatsoever with the events in Innistrad.
On a relevant note, I remember reading about the improbability of a return to Kamigawa and I hope the reception to this Soratami makes everyone think we should pay the Japanese-inspired plane a visit some time in the future. Crossing my fingers on this one.
I like Tamiyo.
She's not immediately "must have" playable, which means second hand market for her will probably be fair.
She's a female blue non-human walker, all things the crowds that care about that thing have been talking about.
And yeah, her art is gorgeous.
I really really like her, just because she's a very middle ground walker. I feel like she hit the right note of what a walker is supposed to be.
I love that the reason she's here on the plane isn't because she's tied to some plotline or another, she's just hanging out so she can study the moon and the rest of the plane. Her apparent extroversion and enthusiasm are also quite refreshing compared to our other mono-blue walker characters.
Hmm, flavor-wise, based on thet guide snippet.... she needs more love. Right now, all they tell us about her is that she likes observing things and that's it. Well, that's a start at least, because now I can ask about a few things (which hopefully they will eventually answer): What triggered her to go to Innistrad? Is she a flighty archivist who just happens to visit Innistrad and takes a liking to the plane, or rather, takes a liking to observe the plane? How do the Nephalians react to her (I suppose being a Soratami, she'll try to expose her presence to as few people as possible)? Is there any other important character who has met her?
Well, of course, we just knew her, so I guess I'll just have to be patient for answers Sides, the World article hints that she'll be in the spotlight two weeks from now
Pity that the avatar size limit is a little too small to fit her entire head in, isn't it?
EDIT: to Bari:
Suddenly it makes me wish she has or will visit Ravnica someday. If she really is that curious, Izzet sounds like a nice place to hang out for her maybe

And her hair does not disappoint.
I love how bright and exciting her background is, which is SUCH a departure from every other blue character, who appears to be standing around in either a storm or at the dead of night.

She's mostly been hanging out in the one tower-guy's observatory, so I don't imagine she's had much contact with other locals. Probably blew the guy's mind, though, when she first showed up.
I'd have been thoroughly disappointed if her hair was small enough to fit easily in a 100x100 box.
People keep making fun of the fact that she's wearing "socks and sandals," too. Clearly these people are unfamiliar with tabi.

Agreed 100%. She's such a breath of fresh air in so many ways.
I like that She's not a "typical" protagonist or antagonist int he vein of the other walkers. There isn't some grand quest or heroic obligation for her to latch onto, and she doesn't have any grand scheme or master plan. She's just wandering around, doin' her thang.
Not every Bradywalker they create has to be some kind of epic character.

Just her being more of the world-exploring sightseeing type is good enough for me. I swear, from the moment I saw her face, I hoped she'd be the first walker that's not carrying much emotional baggage. Compared to the rest, her backstory is indeed the most lighthearted one I've ever read. It's a relief really.
I'd love it if she just shows up from time to time on various planes, just to observe whatever interesting stuff is around. Not getting involved with any epic stories or personal quests, just hopping around the multiverse looking for neat stuff to learn about.

I'm curious as to why? I'm not artistically inclined, so I don't really see anything egregious between his art and others.

Chan has done some excellent work like Wilt-Leaf Liege, Apocalypse Hydra, and the thematically appropriate Gifts Given. He can work miracles with unusual illustrations. The problem is he doesn't get that opportunity as frequently as when he started. Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Koth of the Hammer, or Karn Liberated are nothing but a figure standing there frowning.

As an Izzet fan with an Izzet OC walker, it would be interesting to see this bunny lady rummaging in some old, abandoned Izzet laboratory.
She could be BFF with Chandra, whose gauntlet is confirmed to be an izzet device.
Mostly because the Aleksi Briclot just REALLY liked the izzet gauntlets.
