Just a note - MaRo replied on Tumblr that 2026 is atypical in having 3 classic and 4 UB sets. They wanna keep the promised 3:3 split.
I'm guessing it was due to contracts with the IP holders to have the sets out this year and the oddness of them making every major set now go through standard.

I think Magic story atm works best when they have a face we call follow across planes
We... We had that. Then they decided to despark everyone and their mother. I don't quite understand the appeal of having distinct worlds when everyone can be anywhere anytime. It makes the worlds even smaller, because now each world feels like it's just a town and people just move between towns all the time.
I'm not a fan of the desparking either but I liked that we got characters in the stories we hadnt before in Duskmourn and Aetherdrift and if thats what the game side needs to make it work in the story, its just another thing to have to deal with with Magic being a supplemental story to a game vs a storyline on its own.
And yea thats what I was trying to say, the gatewatch and kellan worked as main characters to tie the storyline more so then events like we saw with phyrexia popping up or what they tried with dragon storm.
As for reality fracture, I hope they'll slow down with the multiversal cataclysms. Like don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for high stakes stories and MoM was (cough conceptually cough) kinda cool, but we need a breather. They used to have plane-wide disasters like every block. Then they slowed that down when they started returning to worlds every once in a while. And now they do multiverse-altering events every few sets again. It's getting a bit silly. Like high stakes are only high stakes if they're comparatively high. If all stakes are equally high, they're all just average.
Yeah kinda where I am feeling, but we barley know anything of the set so willing to wait and see more first.

But it looks kinda just like a stylized art for Chandra life so far nothing too spoilery...
That said Chandra looks the most south asian in this art and wouldn't hate if this set recton'd her looks to match her current origin as a mix white and south asian person more vs the clearly white character she was made originally.

If you wanna show Wizards that the story matters and you have the means to pre-order the author and creative team have said that is what is lead to wizards and publishers to make more, and shows the intrest of the player base of the origonal mtg ip.
