We got a first look at Ixalan 2 and it has some story and world info;
-Pathways have opened up into the center of Ixalan which is a hallow world with a sun at its center
-The four groups of Ixalan are racing into the center of the plane to find a new power resource
-There are angels on Ixalan who where in the core of the world, along with gods
-Huatli lost her spark
-There is a civilization within the core that are ancestors of the sun empire and also use dinosaurs as well as bat creatures and master something called "cosmium"

Per Maro there are a lot of ideas/requests for planes that they felt couldn't make a full plane on its own and have decided to try adding these ideas to existing planes. The Lost Caverns of Ixalan is the first of these experments with planes with "Underground world" being added to Ixalan.

Well I Think that this whole Hallow World Idea. It’s so silly
Ixalan still has a lot of room for a different worldbuilding: Torrezon. The Sun Empire attacking a XVI Spanish empire (Inquisition, Tercios, Elizabeth II counterattack commanding Elements and pirates) as it was hinted
Therefore we still have a hallow world, that could use all this ideasfor Ixalan 2: Pyrulea
the Fourth tribes running again for a treasure feals the same again

To be fair, I feel like they maneuvered themselves into a corner with Ixalan. Ixalan is defined by its meso-american setting and the four tribes. Both of which are hard to maintain when you move the plot to Torrezon (Why would the merfolk be present on Torrezon? They have no stakes in the conflict there.)
Plus, they named the entire plane after the continent we visited first. A set taking place on Torrezon would take place on Ixalan but not in Ixalan. Even if we ignore expectations, how are you gonna market that.
I feel like they applied their learning from this to Strixhaven. The set introducing us to the world wasn't named after the world, but a place on that world, so if we ever return to Strixhaven, but a different location, you can do proper expectation management.
Funnily enough they did the same thing again with Capenna, calling the world Capenna and the city we saw on our first visit New Capenna. (And the invasion was called Invasion of New Capenna, instead of Invasion of Capenna. Oh well.)
At any rate, Pyrulea isn't really hollow. It's just inverted, with gravity pushing away from the center rather than inwards. I kinda wish they had made Pyrulea into a miniature world, where the vegetation and wildlife is gigantic compared to the intelligent denizens. But that went out the window and now we have the joke plane Gargantikar. Whatever.
Then again, the difference between hollow and Dyson-sphere like planes is probably splitting hairs so eh. I'm not convinced "hollow world" is a particularly great hook for a set. How would it look different from regular sets? How does it translate mechanically? A proper underground set would have made more sense than just a naturally occuring "Mirrodin".
I mean, if we have learned one thing from WotC worldbuilding in recent years is that they love their tropes, and it seems to be working out for them. Do something everyone knows, put a slight spin/different coat of paint on it, boom. Everybody loves it. I have my gripes with this approach, but it does seem to be what the majority wants, so...
First Look at Ixalan 2 with video of the pannel coming up asap;
-Quintorius is on Ixalan and still has his spark. His ability with spirts will a story point.
-It will still be exploration themed set but the story will be more from the point of view of the indigenous coded people.
-The factions are wanting Cosmium a new power resource but currently controlled by the Oltec the people living in the center. The Oltec are related to the Sun Empire.
-Story starts Oct 19th
-Kellan is on Ixalan as well.
-Seems Sahelli has lost her spark but was on Ixalan and/or found an omenpath there to live with Huatli.
-Huatli's DFC saga card references a huipil garment which is a still living tradion of story telling.
-Its been about ~ a year since the Phyrexian War and LCI

Unless mistaken they didn't technically say quint gained a spark in MOM story it was just implied also when did he lose it after that.
fixed (they didn't technically say quint gained a spark in MOM story it was just implied)
Unless Liliana was wrong (for which there was no narrative reason) it was pretty much explicitly stated.
And he did gain his spark before the desparkening happened, so saying he kept his spark is a valid fact to note down. They could have easily had him spark, ending up on a plane and then have him "stranded" there after losing his spark again, which thematically, makes a lot of sense for Ixalan.

When Wizards said the complete story dump was today, turns out they were serious. 6 full Episodes and a side story is a lot more than I was expecting for one day - I was worried that we'd get one Episode and one side story.
Too fast, too much telling, not showing, something felt just like ticking boxes.
As expected, it centered on Aclazotz, who was hinted in the very first Ixalan.
Basically, like Eldraine, it shows another world that was f**ked up by the invasion and heads towards dissension and, in this case, one or even two civil wars.
The Mycotyrant is basically Phyrexia in small scale. With the omenpaths open, it can even expand to other worlds.
So all this story accomplished is:
- Setting up another return to Ixalan
- Killing Huatli's cousin
- a potential new threat to Multiverse
- Kellan getting another companion to travel. I have a suspicion that this will be repeated, with him getting his own Guardians of the Galaxy Multiverse team along the arc. Tinybones could make a good Rocket, well?
Liked the cameo of Beckett Brass, though.

In regards to the worldbuilding, I'm not quite sure on the Sun Empire having access to [non-obsidian] glass and citruses, as well as calling their grandpas "abuelo". Kind of takes away from their indigenous inspiration.
So the Oltec have some clear Incan inspirations, like the use of khipu. The fact that they have mechanical flying things reminds me of Disney's Atlantis
