Here we go again, Wizards mistreatedy my favorite world and favorite goddess, therefore they are the worst, worst, worst!!!
I would say that Theros is no worse in this than other planes. Innistrad did not have a story the first time either.
Frankly, all the planes got shafted here, because there is just too little place and too much to cover.
Just face it, Theros is not special for Wizards, like it is for you.
That said, especially considering Theros and its way of metaphysical workings, it is almost given that the pantheon could be reinstated by a proveebial snap of the fingers, just say that the belief on the original gods was preserved somewhere by hidden groups of worshippers, and the gods will reform, in one way or another, maybe with changed names or redistributed domains. There is virtually no other world where doing this would be easier and more logical.
What damage? We know next to nothing about Theros. As usual.
We have seen numerous references. Tranquil Cove, several cameos in the story (especially Elspeth's), we know that Cymede, Polukranos got compleated, Kroxa released by Athreos to eat Phyrexians, we know that Meletis endured, we know Brimaz got compleated, we know that all five of the main gods have been compleated, we know that Ephara and Athreos live, we know this from here and here.
Led by a Phyrexian Ajani, the first wave of the invasion targeted temples and other places of worship. Due to the nature of faith on Theros, compleating the gods' devotees meant that the gods themselves, influenced by their new Phyrexian worshippers, succumbed and became Phyrexians as well.
The city of Meletis now stands as the last bastion of resistance against an endless onslaught of Phyrexian armies. Hordes of Phyrexian monstrosities assail the city from air, land, and sea, while Meletian defenders fight valiantly to drive them off. With the aid of Ephara, one of the few surviving Theros gods, sustained by the belief of those within the city walls, they've managed to hold their own—so far
As the invasion of Theros neared total compleation, the branches of the Invasion Tree pierced into the Underworld itself. The Phyrexian forces marched through, compleating all they touched . . . until they encountered Kroxa, the titan of death's hunger, who devoured them so thoroughly that no trace of them remained—not even glistening oil. Seeing this, Athreos made the choice to strike Kroxa's chains and set him loose within the Underworld. To keep the titan from escaping to the mortal realm, Athreos charged Kunoros with keeping him in check. Kunoros shepherds the paroled Kroxa, guiding it along the paths that Athreos wishes, where it will inflict the most damage to Phyrexians and least damage to everything else.
Summarized, we globally know a LOT more about Theros than e.g. Tarkir or even such planes like Innistrad. Yes, Eldraine and Innistrad got stories, but not very informative overall.
Please, stop sulking and pouting, start using the thing between your ears and don't force me openly mock you.
Theros didn't have a novel or series of stories last time, with all sorts of missing details and loose threads, and had even less than the bullet point list of story beats it had last time. Doesn't change my opinion that from a lore perspective, it's a mess of lacking detail/explanation.
Whereas partially true, this is not the topic here. Let me remind you - we were talking about this line of yours:
We know next to nothing about Theros, as usual.
We know next to nothing about Theros, though. And just because we know more about Theros than some other planes does not invalidate the massive gaping holes in and low quality of the lore for this set.

Are you aware that the set is called "March of the Machine" and not "Phyrexians attack Theros", right? Just asking.

Yeah, and there's minimal lore about the March of that Machine across all planes, including the one I care about most. And just because there's slightly more (but still bare minimum) detail about the latter relative to others, doesn't make the overall lack of story quality here any more palatable, in my opinion. Frankly, if Theros is the highlight of what we can expect to know about these planes thus far, it only reinforces my argument that the information was have is deficient at best.
A potential return to Theros sounds exhausting, with all the ground and residual plot it must cover, assuming it ever resolves any of it.
I'm asking myself "What did you expect?"
We have one Set for an invasion of 36+ (just counting the battles but there are way more) known worlds with hundreds of possible involved characters.
In comparison:
The first Invasion just had three to four planes involved - Dominaria, Phyrexia, Rath and Mercadia - where the last one didn't really matter in the final battle, Rath "dissolved" during stage two and Phyrexia itself was just a "sideevent" not really mattering much, as Yawgmoth more or less had abandoned his homebase. Even then, this "small" Invasion took place over at least 3 Sets (INV, PLS, APO) - even more if you count the preparations on both sides - and had 3 Novels (+one Prequel) just around the climax-battle. All three sets together took place during Oct 2000 till Oct 2001 (when Odyseey launched), exactly one year.
Now, Wizards chose to do the same thing again just bigger and faster. We have 10x more planes - even if some of them don't really matter, we have at least 5+ places where planeswalkers where involved (as the main characters). We had one to two sets time for it, makes about 4 months. And no novels, just 17 story chapters (about 3/4 of one book, maybe less) including the side stories.
I mean... even if they wanted to tell all the stories, places, characters - it wouldn't be possible. At least not now.
I think they managed to set up the next stage for years to come - a lot of open question, a lot of aftermath and rebuild sets, a lot of revisiting without repeating the same stuff other and other again. I mean - who wants to see the same battle over the guilds in Ravnica for the fourth time?

Narset, Samut, Sarkhan, Kiora and Nissa really loose their sparks in aftermath. I think, they'll become guardians of their worlds - Tarkir, Amonkhet, Tarkir (again?), Theros(?) and maybe Lorwyn/Dominaria (?) - as Nissa formed a bond with the world, and Nahiri has survived and maybe takes her natural spot as defender of zendikar?
Other than that - interesting choices... Sarkhans Story is told (Searching wanderer, maddened by bolas/ugin,thrown throught time, "healing Tarkir" and now become the dragonspeaker-"supreme"), as is Kiora's (battling with Thassa over the sea, stealing her bident and maybe even outlive her (if Thassa was compleated) and even Nissa seems at a natural end (her being able to bond with planar souls and finding love in Chandra and having a fractured spark beeing compleated and healed). Nahiri had her time as well, fighting for and against Zendikar and finally burned out her rage and anger... And Karn? He created worlds and destroyed them, was mentro for planeswalker and saw power rise and fall... he is a relict of history - just on the wrong plane. But maybe "open the way" shows how he can be brought back to Tolaria?
I'm sad for Narset and Samut - as they both hadn't a time and place to shine. But than again Samut Is Amonkhets walker of the samut - telling the story of the crops and worthy - and may be useless as Xenagos was for the future.
And for the following walkers this could mean their ending too (as their stories is complete):
Teferi (more than finished, as even Zhalfir is back), Elspeth (she is an angel now), Jace and Vraska (maybe back on ixalan?), Ajani? (but he was healed successfully, maybe this "resets" him as Karn 2.0), Huatli (set planeswalker as Samut), the Wanderer (protector of Kamigawa and more or less useless on other worlds), Liliana (now chancelor of strixhaven?), Ral Zarek (Set Planeswalker Ravnica), Saheeli (Set Planeswalker Kaladesh but that qould be sad for her love Huatli), Sorin (Eternal protector of Innistrad), Ugin/Bolas (as they are sealed away and their brthren story complete).
Leaves us with homeless walkers in need of a place to fight for (Koth, Vivien, Tezzeret, Ob Nixilis, Kaya, Grist, Ashiok, Davriel)
and the "young" like Teyo (even if his world is dumb and he would be an awesome protector for it), Will&Rowan, Tyvar (as link to Lorwyn), Oko, Kasmina, Yanling and Jiang, , Niko Aris, Kaito, Basri, Calix, Chandra (as young age searching for adventure), and some non-canon and weird characters.

We need to talk about the most potential reveal lore wise of all the cards
this one is easy coin flip if this confirms nonwalkers can go to planes again it all depends if nissa or chandra have a spark or not it could be something else as well.
To me it looks like the majority of planeswalkers are going to be desparked (because I see no real reason for only a few of them being affected). However, it also appears that the planes have been brought "closer together" so they can be traversed even by people without working sparks, as many predicted.
I find it pretty lame that they included so many generic "random person/animal from plane X" cards. If you're doing a mini-set that's supposed to be focused on the story, why not fill it to the brim with story relevant stuff?
I'll wait and see more but I'm kinda disappointed at some of the characters being de-sparked. Sarkhan, Kiora and Samut havent had any story or featured much since War of the Spark and Narset just had a cameo in Ikoria. Would have been nice to see them feature somewhere before this. Ob at least got to be the villain in New Capenna. I had a similar feeling for Vraska being compleated.
I do wonder how this happens though. Nissa lost her spark likely from being un-compleated and likely did Karn (which might be why Ajani has his, Vensers/Karns spark was the one used up to heal Ajani so he might kepted his, while I think Nissa own burned up), so what about the rest?

Exactly what I was thinking as well. This set is not built for limited. It does not suffer from the same design constraints as the other sets. It's vision statement was being an epilogue to the MoM story.
Why is there a random oni in it? To tell us that Oni didn't go extinct? I don't think anyone thought they were going to???
And why is Nassari alive and well? Didn't she get compleated? Or did the elder dragon spell revert all the professors (and students)?
Also, very suspicious we don't have a single not desparked walker. I still want to hold onto my theory that all walkers despark and anyone can cross the blind eternities now. Of course, it's simply more likely they just didn't open a planeswalker as there's probably like only one or two in the whole set. Still!
Yep, Elspethianity is well on its way, should make for some interesting developments for Theros.
Looks like Kaldheim's worldtree is going to regrow, I'll be curious if it has a wider reach into the multiverse this time. I think we can also firmly declare Arni to be the biggest badass in existence. MFer's gonna bust up Emrakul next.
There's a few reasons we could be seeing walkers desparked. Wizards isn't going to stop printing Walker cards, so the idea they're using their sparks to purify individual planes seems probable. A twist on the last Mending where sparks are being used to stabilize the Realmbreaker portals is another strong possibility.
I remember that Kaervek was said to have escaped in one of the Zhalfir stories. If the ways between worlds are going to stay open he would be a great choice for next major villain. Maybe we'll finally get a multiversal Legion of Doom.
Calix and tyvar also lose their sparks… calix has next to none info and only appeared in one set.
flisch you may be winning the bet on all of them losing their sparks “spark rupture” is a enchantment thats Humility for planeswalkers (better comparison is a planeswalker version of titania's song)
Drannith from ikoria just entered the same boat as amonkhet did in hour of devastation from the land (story already mentioned that one though)
There a Dinosaur thopter in ixalan… so now ixalan may be going from a aztec based to dinotopia based plane
Hiw nahiri escape the cave in is making a huge BANG!
i think we all missed it i just realized what may habe caused the events on spark rupture.
i think we forgot about elsepth bringing the sylux to the blind eternities what if the detonation in the blind eterieis causes certain walkers to lose their sparks.

Some cards seem like they are special showcase versions, and we already know from the official Jolrael spoiler that there's a ridiculous amount of different printings. So I'm kind of hoping that at least the "regular versions" with a non-crowded textbox will have some flavor text? Otherwise they really exaggerated big time when they said that the Kenrith's Royal Funeral was "the least spoilery card they could show." Well, never trust a marketer...
I guess you could take the oni and go "well, the Phyrexians caused a lot of death and destruction, and that lead to a resurgence of oni activity on Kamigawa." But that's like, neat fluff at best. Certainly not something that would have to be included in a story-focused mini-set. And then you have cards like the Frillback, which don't even allow for that level of mental gymnastics. Just a dino on Ixalan, living in the jungle, no connection to anything whatsoever ... why? To show that the conflict is over? I don't think we need a special slot for that!
i think we all missed it i just realized what may habe caused the events on spark rupture.

This better be the explanation... I am mighty stung that even after all those Walkers who featured in the MOM stories and that didnt get phyrexianized did, after that they get desparked like that? NO SIR, NO MA'AM...
Silverlining is that Tyvar and Elspeth is sort of going the route of Godhood... so they can still be way powerful.
ps. Interesting name for Sigarda... so is it safe to say that we're gonna see more Fonts for those planes where the New Capennan angels went that had angels? I would like to see a Font for Dominaria, Alara, Kaladesh, and Xerex....

The third spoiler video had a version of Spark Rupture with spoiler text, implying this desparking is a direct consequence of the invasion. I'm inclined to think it has something to do with Realmbreaker, but whoever said the Sylex blast might be the cause could be on to something.
It didn't occur to me that Sigarda has become a Font like Giada. Angels are going to be big news for a while it seems.
Opening up the multiverse has to happen, how else can any of these bull***** worlds progress otherwise?

The card “Open the way” seems like a big clue nonwalkers can go to planes the blue cloud chandra and nissa are walking toward hoghly resembles the one the kaldheim shapeshifter is walking threw in depart the realm and rememeber reach realm is literally a different plane so kaldheim is in a way 10 planes in 1

I vented the same sentiment as your last paragraph immediately after it was spoiled. I simply cannot believe this after they said that it will be a small standalone set focused on the story, wuth almost every card mattering to the story? Wasting slots on two generic dinosaurs? Aren't we going fo friggin' Ixalan this fall?
At least for me, Open the Way is kind of confirmation for the worlds being now linked by multversal version of omenpaths.
Speaking of what, Cosmic Rebirth looks like the World Tree is going to regrow in the future.
Undercity Upheaval looked to me like Trostani taking care of the ruined Golgari guild, but it is probably just some three Golgari folks.

Im honestly wondering if “cosmic rebrith” and “open the way” are connected since a new world tree is growing and this one finds some of the paths the realmbreaker left in the blind eternites and follows them thus connecting to the planes the realmbreaker found making new omen paths to more planes. (Realms in kaldheims case.)

the schedule saids the story is may 1st and 2nd (today and tomorrow) so 7 to 37 minutes more or leas
Teferi's spark had faded sometime after the invasion. Koth's as well. Chandra is the only one among them who seemed to have kept hers—well, Chandra and Ajani.
The sylex had gone off in the Blind Eternities. Holes had been punched in the space between planes. Maybe this is some sort of natural response from the Multiverse; a great pruning, a taking back of that mysterious energy that once filled them. It doesn't matter the cause, though. No amount of theorizing offers Nissa comfort.
congratulations elspeth you just desparked half the walkers in the multiverse
secondly
The portal calls to Nissa. Something on the other side hums with the energy of a leyline song. It's like a chorus of overlapping, chaotic, melodies from different planes, but through it all, she feels a familiar vibration. It's faint, but it sounds like Zendikar. Even if the plane cannot hear her, her heart instinctively fills with longing. But she needs more than instinct. She needs to understand. So she dares to ask, "Where do you think it leads?"
She wants it to lead her home.
"Hard to say," Teferi muses. "But that beast certainly wasn't from Zhalfir."
Desire grips Nissa's chest even harder. "Could it have traveled from another plane?"
Karn appeared to shrug, an awkward gesture with his massive shoulders. "It's possible. Realmbreaker burrowed holes through the fabric of reality. The sylex exploded in the Blind Eternities. Who knows what that might have changed."
so who guess non planeswalkers can get to planes now as well... congradulation you win a random storm elemental from a different plane entered from the same portal that nissa and chandra went through on the card "Open the way"
my only guess of what plane the elemental was from is lorwyn since it looks more like a creature rather than a plant creature
congratulations elspeth you just desparked half the walkers in the multiverse
Still mad bitter that majority of the affected are somewhat newer Planeswalkers (as the leeks have shown us). How comfy that the Lorwyn 5 is pretty much intact (holding that out until The Brown Line tells us what happens to Jace... and Liliana).
I wonder how many stories we're gonna get for Aftermath...

Let this great clan rest in peace (2001-2011)
Im honestly wondering if “cosmic rebrith” and “open the way” are connected since a new world tree is growing and this one finds some of the paths the realmbreaker left in the blind eternites and follows them thus connecting to the planes the realmbreaker found making new omen paths to more planes. (Realms in kaldheims case.)
Couple weeks ago we essetional got the hyrogrypics of the epilogue of story. (We saw cards but no flavor text to explain)
but tomorrow and the day after we get the translations (part 1 and 2 of mom epilogue)

Elspeth and Jhoira rock my world.

then the cards are shown may 2nd and 3rd

....and right off the bat.. the change forever
congratulations elspeth you just desparked half the walkers in the multiverse
secondly
so who guess non planeswalkers can get to planes now as well... congradulation you win a random storm elemental from a different plane entered from the same portal that nissa and chandra went through on the card "Open the way"
my only guess of what plane the elemental was from is lorwyn since it looks more like a creature rather than a plant creature
EDIT: Nevermind I get it. I think.
I can definitely relate to that sentiment if so.
