I would be shocked beyond words if Liliana ends up on Phyrexia's team. My guess is her infection will be the test case for whatever plot relevant cure the heroes think of.
technqiuelly it’s arcavios/strixhaven nix in danger of getting phyresis and make phyrexians native in arcavios
because liliana washing the mound in arcavios… she may have done a mistake even dumber than her other two she could have potentially done karns stupid mistake that he did in mirrodin with failing to check xantcha heart for any more glistening oil. Touch glistening oil you catch phyresis and it slowly works on turning the victim into a phyrexian.
(Let’s face it we’re already theorizing the kennrith twins will end up in the phyrexian war somehow.)
I think you are overestimating glistening oil a little. While yes, it can lead to phyresis and compleating people, it still needs someone to implant the metallic parts to finalize the transformation (I really think it works similar to the Borg and their nanoprobes, just not even that effective). It was so successful on Mirrodin because the whole world and its inhabitants were already infused so extremely with metal. It is mentioned somewhere that Urborg is full of the stuff too still, but under normal circumstances the danger of some random people being compleated is rather limited without an organized invasion force behind it. We'll see where this all leads.
it Won’t be just elsepth he gets the war in the good guys favor From the side story I’m like almost 100% sure liliana will too and this could also be her redemption arc in the making. But I can also predict she will do a Gideon’s sacrifice type of thing to cause the phyrexians to lose. (And also doing it for gideon.)
I really hope we get some phyrexian action on Innistrad. We need to know which corruption is stronger, that of the phyrexians, or that of Emrakul, an eldrazi titan. My money is on Emrakul, but it would be great to see the two sides fighting each other, sort of like in the old Godzilla movies when you had like Godzilla versus Mothra. Although, I can also see it being likely that with Tamiyo being compleated and her intimate knowledge of what's in the moon, the phyrexians just kinda don't go there because they don't want to deal with that lol

did wizards forget Ertai is dead? Squee killed him by accident with the phyrexian healing device.
Actually, they did not:
Jaya, despite the fire in her hands, chilled down to her guts. Ertai. She'd heard of him, sure—one of the original crew of the Weatherlight. He'd been dead for centuries—and still had death's pallor, though some force reanimated his twitching features. His eyes possessed a terrible intelligence.
Seems like Sheoldred's forces found his corpse and reanimated him.
Aside from that I really find Meria intriguing, an elf who is interested in artifice and science outside of Kaladesh. Pretty rare in MtG.
My guess who the spy is is probably not surprising:
It's Ajani. At some point he has been captured and compleated off-screen, but as a sleeper agent himself to keep an eye on the Gatewatch, the Dominarian resistance etc.
I'm NOT happy about Ertai's return. While Phyrexian is capable of reanimating corpses, Ertai's body would be dust within the first century of his death, what COULD they possibly reanimate after centuries? And I don't believe Phyrexians are capable of summoning souls (in Ertai's case he should be far, far gone by now). My guess is that the Ertai we see here is just a replica, similar to Hanna at one point, not a reanimation.
Regardless, it's rather pointless to put Ertai back into the pic. While I understand WotC's purpose of evoking nostalgia, the arrogant mage had done his part, and can current writers handle old characters faithfully? Base on this chapter, I cannot imagine.
but heres how in the wordl part comes to play ertai death was disintegration with dust partical remains how do you come back with that.
but if they are resurrecting old phyrexians then I can theorize something.
They might do the same thing with Gix on resurrecting him
Rona is his biggest fan and the leader his cabal and domnating dominaria might be a red herring for them to gather old phyrexia phyrexians along with getting their hands on the sylux
and also maro teasers this time mentions
a character players have been requesting get a card for years finally gets one
i starting to think "The raven man" is a red herring because Lim-Dûl the Necromancer is one in the same so he already had a card already
Gix is the only one i can think of that can fit that teaser that isn't the raven man
but heres how in the wordl part comes to play ertai death was disintegration with dust partical remains how do you come back with that.
Kaldra was brought back and had a similar fate.

Gix sounds very plausible to me, although if we don't get him here, we certainly will in Brother's War.
With appearances by Ertai, Braids, Lim-Dûl, Dihada, and compleated planeswalkers, I wonder if we are seeing the creation of a "Legion of Doom" comprised of past villains? Gix would definitely fit right in.
Could we be seeing Kaervek, Mairsil, or deeper cuts like Johan, Shauku, or Tojira? Or maybe villains from other planes (Baron Sengir...?) if the Phyrexian conflict widens in the next few sets?

It is simply total BS.
Attached is the excerpt from Apocalypse, page 205. Ertai was burnt to ashes, as all who read the books 20 years back know.
So unless they are very good at reassembling ashes back into a person, it is impossible to bring him back like that. The Hanna-like simulacrum/replica sounds more plausible.
I asked Jay Annelli (Jay13x), the official storyline consultant, how is this possible. His answer was simply "yes, Sheoldred brought him back with his magic". How exactly from the friggin' ashes, I did not learn.
I even formed a theory. Since the closest depiction of the moment we have is Squee's Revenge, that shows Squee and Ertai, but not Ertai incinerated to dust and ash, they can simply say - well, of course he was *killed* by Squee, but they just reanimated him. Few of us remember the 20 years old books...
But otherwise, it is as I feared. It is a burning trainwreck. All the ailments of the current storytelling - too little space to tell the story, abysmal pacing, too fast developments, not enough time for anything. This time, multiplied by BOTH the familiar setting and familiar conflict setup. Comparing this to Invasion is unavoidable, and man, it sucks so bad.

If I wanted to play along, I might suggest that the glistening oil is basically magical nanotech, so reassembling Ertai (and Kaldra) from dust and ash wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility.
But the truth is, ever since Maro basically stated many years ago that Magic was embracing "comic book" style storytelling (and reiterated when asked why Nicol Bolas was not killed off after War of the Spark), no villain will ever be permanently defeated and no dead character can be counted on to stay dead. I give 50-50 odds we see Phyrexian Zombie Venser before this current plot arc concludes in "Marathon" next year.
When Magic storytelling aimed to be Fantasy, characters could grow and change. But Comic Book storytelling is based on the illusion of change, a cynical cycle based on the length of time the average fan reads a given comic. Character development only lasts as long as the current creative team and continuity is only fixed until the next story needs to be told.

As a story supervisor, he knows surprisingly little about the story. A similar thing happened with New Capenna, when he had no idea why the angels where suddenly back and could only make guesses. Same thing here ... "idk, powerful magic or something."
Ertai is back?
Are wotc authors really that incompetent? They just spin a random wheel to decide which old character will return?

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

hes no longer immoral at the end of the story
You know that means squee is the first being in every single plane in existence to be cured of phyrexian compleation

another interesting note

You may be glad to hear that today's "Death and Salvation" story on the mothership (https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-story/death-and-salvation-2022-08-16) at least acknowledges that Ertai was burnt to ashes:
