While very early still todays weeklymtg had some info thats lore related;
First and minor: The marketing art shows Karn, Liliana and Ajani which likely points to them being in the storyline/on plane (and planeswalker balance fits a B and WG walkers) and Jodah and Shanna features as well. Ajani was a safe guess as he hasn't been featured since war of the spark and Elspeth said he was on Dominaria but Liliana is a bit of surprise as it seems someone pulled her out of her nice teaching job.
Bigger New: Dominaria United will be the start of a storyline that will take place across several sets. While they couldn't give details, pretty clear this when the Gatewatch and New Phyrexia will begin their war.
They also give out the codename for the next few set with the 2021 Q2 date being a big note as list is "Codename Marathon" and with it "Codename Marathon Epilogue".
IMPORTANT DATES
August 10-18th: Dominaria United Story
August 16th: Worldbuidling Video
August 18th: Dominaria United debut video and previews begin, along with Wizard Presents

Def glad to have any sort of confirmation that Sheoldred is actually alive! However, I don't see how Sheoldred could compleat Braids since she's been long dead, like Pre-Mending dead. The vibe I got from the Braids art was that she was being summoned back from dementia space by the Cabal cultists she's draining. Before she died, Braids was hopping in and out of dementia space to "climb" out of a chasm Karona created when the False God slammed the ground back together, burying Braids and hundreds of others alive. She retreated into dementia space as she ran out of air, and that was the last we saw of her. So I'm hoping this art means she's just been chilling in another dimension until the Cabal ritualed her out. Cannot wait to see what she does!

Seemly Jared and Dihaha are alive and we might get a planeswalker sub-theme to go along with the legends theme if we see all 10 walkers in the Jaya and Teferi cycle show up on cards.

It took Yawgmoth (with all his 9 Spheres) 9,000 years to prepare and launch a Phyrexian invasion of Dominaria.
And Sheoldred thinks she's going to do it just five years after New Phyrexia became a thing?
Ludicrous. Impossible. There needs to be a timeskip, or something to make this plot work out. If New Phyrexia is invading Dominaria, WotC has to explain how Elesh Norn managed in 5 years what took Yawgmoth millennia.
I'm stoked for Phyrexia to be back in the story. But from a storyline and timeline perspective, I'm finding these developments hard to swallow.
Scars of Mirrodin/Mirrodin Beseiged/New Phyrexia feels like a long time ago to us, the players. From our real-world, human standpoint, that was an entire decade ago, and we've been waiting all those years for this plotline to pay off. But 3 years of MTG sets equates (on average) to 1 year in storyline progress, and from the in-world perspective, Phyrexia practically conquered Mirrodin yesterday. How is it already competitive on Dominaria?
There needs to be a timeskip. Preferably a long one. Even Nicol Bolas needed 60 years to set up his final bid for Multiversal conquest leading to the War of the Spark. A post-Mending timeskip helped make that believable.
But if New Phyrexia is already playing to win on Dominaria after five measly years of existence, then **** it. Elesh Norn > Yawgmoth AND Bolas, and she deserves to win.
^ My thoughts from the Spoiler board, but relevant here. I've been following Magic's Story for 20 years now, and I'm a longtime Phyrexian fan. I've loved the MtG canon through all its ups and downs, yet rarely has it demanded me to suspend my disbelief so much as it is right now.
You want me to believe Chandra and Nissa burned down two Lovcraftian Eldritch horrors with a Channel+Fireball, then fine. I'll believe that. I'll even defend it as making sense given the context.
But New Phyrexia's timeline is impossible for me to defend.

Jared and Dihada are as alive as Ramirez DePietro, I bet. ...And Ramirez is now an undead spirit according to Ghost of Ramirez DePietro. ...And Ramirez gets a new card this Commander set as a living pirate.
They're handing out cards like hotcakes to dead legends this round in the Commander section. Par for the course.

honestly it’s a coin toss if she was compleated or not I mean I think the lore here is she’s talking Belzenloks place as the cabal leader
Braids was DEAD. Period. Last moment we saw her, she was trying to escape to dementia space when buried alive by Karona. Yes, they can pull some "she managed to retreat there and someone got her back", but for all purposes, Fulla the dementia caster aka Braids was dead since the Scourge novel.
The old legends serving as boxtoppers are all reimagined legends fron Legends, hence - all dead. Frankly, if those are NOT the characters from Legends I and II cycles... because we got Jasmine (Legends I), Tor Wauki who was a companion of Tetsuo (Legends II) and Ramirez, who was in both.
Three major spoilers for the Dominaria story have been leaked by an amazon PLEASE DON"T TALK ABOUT IT OUTSIDE OF SPOILER TAGS FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO REMAIN UNSPOILED
1 and 2) Under the Chandra section it spoils that Jaya will be killed by a Compleated Ajani.
3) Liliana finds out that the Raven Man is Lim-Dul
EDIT 4th spoiler possiblely for later on in the New Phyrexia arc;
We get to see that New Phyrexia as reformed Mirrodin into 9 spheres like old phyrexia. The 9th layer is list as "Seedcore: An incubation chamber for New Pyrexia's Invasion Tree Realmbreaker". Looks like this possiblely why Vorniclex went to Kaldheim to get a sample of the world tree that now New Phyrexia is planning uses to connect planes similar to the world tree connection the realms of Kaldheim.

I am not okay, Ajani was my favorite walker and Tamiyo was number #2 so I'm hurt. But I knew Jaya and/or Ajani would not make it out whole as mentor figures. For all you who wanted stakes and characters being killed (or worst) you got your wish with this arc.

feel pretty stupid because when we look at lim-dul and raven man for comparsion
the resemblance is like very very……very twin like so it makes perfect sense he’s the raven man
and As for the spheres of new phyrexia.
yep this fills in the blank of why Vorinclex was on kaldheim.
they were getting seeds to make their own the world tree so it will connect to a bunch of planes with its roots so they don't need tezzeret’s planar bridge so they can keep their flesh intact
now ajani being compleated that’s actually no surprise
infact If you didn't know or forgot.
Did you remember the orginal war of the spark story it had ajani dying instead of gideon? So this is really catching up of what was suppose to happen.
And Jaya i still have codulences for fans but I feel Jaya no longer serves a purpose in the story so makes sense
In fact, many of us did not expect Jaya to make it through the first Dominaria story.
Her main role was the big reveal that she is alive and being the mentor to Chandra, at least for some time. Show the players their old favorite in a new role.
It is, however, cruel for Chandra to lose a kind of father/mentor figure in Ajani being compleated and have him kill her OTHER mentor figure.
On the other hand... Tamiyo has already one member of her circle back in her "family"...

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if that connection to Tamiyo and the story circle is what gets him targeted for compleation. Tamiyo going for those she knows.
Isn't it a little brash and inconsiderate, for Amazon to leak stories via preview? Perhaps the people doing it didn't realize how severe the story spoiler is.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if that connection to Tamiyo and the story circle is what gets him targeted for compleation. Tamiyo going for those she knows.
So Narset might be next? Going after all those with better wisdoms eh.
I don't really get the Brainds compleated theory. Braids doesn't look phyrexianized at all. She is most likely, as others have pointed out, summoned back from Dementia space. A bit fan-servicey in my opinion. Sometimes it feels like the only characters in Dominaria are either old characters or characters directly associated with old characters. Guess Dominaria is not an evolving world anymore.
Sheoldred invading Dominaria makes sense. There may still be phyrexian tech around, maybe even sleeper agents still. On the other hand, the plane is probably the best prepared to face the phyrexian threat. So mmh. As for the timeline, Sheoldred has some advantages that Yawgmoth didn't have, such as being able to reverse engineer the soul traps from Memnarch, access to the Planar Bridge and powered down planeswalkers. Plus, techically she does make use of Yawgmoth's research since the oil carries phyrexian data.
As for Ajani and Jaya. Hey, finally some stakes. Good. What does irk me the wrong way is that the character selection doesn't feel organic and it's exclusively non-mainline planeswalkers and those the audience generally likes. But whatever, at least WotC realizes that you can't tell a high-stakes story without, well, stakes.
so conspiracy theory is angrath ashiok and sorin are the other victims
but im already ready for this theory to go down for the count
If the Wild West plane rumor does have any truth to it, that would point to Angrath appearing soon, as his home plane was hinted to have a Western flavor.
Interestingly, Sorin, Ajani, Tamiyo, and Angrath are all parents or mentor figures (surrogate parents), meaning their compleation equals instant drama for other characters. Sorin is a particularly interesting case, because his character has lacked direction since his feud with Nahiri apparently ended in a draw. Compleation might revitalize his character.
Sometimes it feels like the only characters in Dominaria are either old characters or characters directly associated with old characters. Guess Dominaria is not an evolving world anymore.
We did get a host of new characters in our last visit to Dominaria, such as Yargle, Tiana, and Slimefoot, although I still kinda agree with you. I think this is a consequence of WotC's decision to brand Dominaria as the "history plane".

But whatever, at least WotC realizes that you can't tell a high-stakes story without, well, stakes.
I can see the logic: Ajani was planned for death multiple times (Theros, War of the Spark) due to the over-abundance of whtie planeswalkers plus the dead mentor trope, only to get a reprieve both times. With Elspeth back in action, it makes some sense to finally pull the trigger.
As for Jaya, she mechanically lives in the same card space as Chandra, and her death connects gives Chandra an emotional connection to the Phyrexian storyline, albeit in the most cliché way possible.
Also - if the Phyrexians compleated someone like Chandra or Jace now, it would basically confirm that some or all the compleated planeswalkers will eventually be cured. By targeting the B-team characters, there is still some doubt as to whether the compleation will be permanent.
Sorry for this info being tardy, they showed off important dates for the set and relevant dates for vorthos;
