I want to know what happened with the Theros novel. Did they have a book written that now is being vetted? It sounds as if that’s the case, so why then are they considering Releasing the story through another medium, such as comics (for example) rather than releasing what they already have but are evaluating? How long does this process take to review the Theros novel? The response was very vague that I’m genuinely confused about what what the plan is for the Theros lore. Was a Book written? Will it be released in time? I’ve heard the reason the entire book was canned is because Greg Weisman wrote it. Is there any substantial reason to believe that? If so, I’d prefer they start over with a new author regardless of delay. But if it isn’t the case, when can we expect to see the novel?
I would also like to take this moment to reiterate my deep seething and livid hatred of Nic Kelman. Thanks.
I think that the rumor that it was written by Weisman is BS. As Eldraine was written by Kate Elliott and Ikoria by Django Wexler, there is no reason to believe this was given to Weisman.
When we can expect the novel - only Wizards know.
In the meantime, feel free to read our seven-part take on the story that me and my friend wrote (based on the Wizards's half-hearted "story" they published) during January and February.

I actually did read it, and I really enjoyed it. I suspect some aspects of this book may very well be the canon approach we see in a book eventually. I really would like more follow up on Thassa overall. What she did the moments after Kiora planeswalked away, how she had Purphoros forge her new spear, its name, and why he chose to make her that instead of a new Bident. Also how she acquired devotion in the interim, for example. As well as how the other gods respond to Heliod and how they feel about him being defeated and imprisoned. Godsend was all about the gods meddling. Adding more dimension to Calix too.
I am just confused by the announcement you provided. It seems to imply a book was written that missed its release window, but is being reviewed/vetted for future release. But then the same announcement also states that we may receive the Theros lore as a comic or some other medium instead of a novel, which suggests a book wasn't written for it. So is there a book we're waiting on, or not? The message seems conflicted to me.

Thanks! We put a lot of time and effort into it. Despite we often differ in opinions, I really appreciate these words.

You're welcome. I especially admired the Odyssey riffs used. I was hoping to see more of Thassa and Purphoros interactions and her playing more of a role against Uro, using her Bident to pull back the seas and expose him or something. But it was still a neat scene. I liked Daxos interacting with Heliod in the end as well. Heliod deserves punishment, but I do hope he ultimately returns to the pantheon instead of fading from memory. I like the tension his arrogance brings to stories.
I just wish I could know what Jeremy meant about the Theros novel. If one was written and shelved, or not. And if we can expect the story sooner than later...?
From daily MTG Django Wexler said off hand that he had finished the writing on Sundered Bonded and sent it off to edit near the end of the year. If we use this time table with the Theros novel (so this might be fully off) its likely was gonna be out early 2020 so the first draft or so would have been finished late October/early November. Forsaken came out in November which lead them to need to redo the venting and editor system and this likely left Theros at still being a first or rough draft and missing the window to be fully published. Likely by the time the new editing team came around Thero already being spoiled or even been selling. So they have something but not the time to give it the resources to finish it up but as magic timetable runs fast so they likely wouldn't have had time for this likely until M21 (if we don't get a story for that set). To note, the editing team likely dosen't just edit but need to monitor things such as lore ties and set up for the future.
Their is also likely the matter of author and/or publishing contracts to deal with. The author might not want their work used anymore or doesn't want it to be used in another format (or similar issue with the publisher) which leads to another host of issues such as finding a new author and such. If not they likely need to reschedule everything and needing to redo contracts in addition to editing the story. The corporate side of stuff might also be sour at losing money for unpublished book and might not wanna toss out more money on it unless they feel like it would be profitable.
Related would also be the weirdness of when would they publish it. They missed the window to tie with the set which hurts with sales and advertisement. Assuming they aren't doing ebooks for the core sets, that also limits the window of when they can release it and not have it draw attention from the current set they are trying to sell. As it has ties to New Phyrexia we might see close to that story arcs return to help set it up, even more so if Ashiok and/or Elspeth are featured in with New Phyrexia storyline.
