Honestly, why they thought the word ichor wouldn't make people come to the wrong conclusions is beyond me.
Just like calling Ugin "the Ineffable" means he has a connection to Yawgmoth, no? ;P
Not really the same. "The Ineffable" has never appeared on a card and as such does not carry the weight of the word ichor, which has never appeared in a card name not related to the phyrexians. (With the possible exception of Ichor Slick, but that might still be some remnants of the phyrexians on Dominaria.)
Plus, people speculate about phyrexians being anywhere, because that's kinda an important plot point. Mirrodin has turned out to be infected with the phyrexians all along and the phyrexians are actively trying to spread to other worlds. Another plane being corrupted by the phyrexians isn't unthinkable and in fact somewhat expected.
Nobody expects the "true identity" of Yawgmoth to be revealed, because we already know his identity, so nobody is really confused about the "Ineffable" title. It's just that some people are grumpy Yawgmoth now has to share his title.
