WHY RAVNICA, WHY NOT DO THIS ON A PLANE YOU ALREADY CONTROL.
At some point Ravnica became the center of the multiverse instead of Dominaria and has more powerful magic, or something like that. Also, project lightning bug is on Ravnica.

Bolas plan was for planeswalkers to arrive on the plane on their own (because it's a little uneconomic to try to convince/subdue them one by one), so he chose a plane with the right technology (izzet inventors) and renown (hub of the multiverse) in order to have them build some beacon that calls other planeswalkers for aid.
I mean, obviously the reason why Ravnica was chosen is for narrative reasons and not really lore-reasons, but it makes sense, really. A Bolas-controlled plane would've alerted the planeswalkers to the trap being a trap. Kaladesh and Dominaria are the two other possible candidates (for technology and being a hub respectively) but both lack the important other component, plus Dominaria might be a little too difficult to invade due to its history. Ravnica is ruled by the guilds, which Bolas not only destabilized beforehand, but also decapitated (to a degree) by destroying the guildhall. So there.

No it didn't. That was a draft of Dragon's Maze.

Because Bolas can't Planar Bridge that tech? He already has to have Project Lightning Bug to Lure planeswalkers to the plane to begin with, and the Planeswalkers going in aren't exactly looking before they leap anyways so "They wouldn't hop to a Bolas controlled plane" isn't an answer because they are only showing up in the first place because of something that could be Bridged somewhere else.
None of this plan requires Ravnica and it makes no sense for Bolas to be doing it here. Heck Dominaria would make more sense if only because it doesn't have the Guildpact that has generally allowed stability to rule for the past 10K years, don't require subverting, and doesn't risk empowering Niv Mizzet.
I'd assume that the beacon is only a signal, not a portal or whatever, so planeswalkers would still need to navigate to the plane with the beacon, hence being a plane planeswalkers shouldn't worry about stepping foot on is a crucial part of the plan.
Point two: The beacon being in the hands of the planeswalkers is also crucial to the plan. Again, it's a trap. The planeswalkers aren't supposed to know they're walking intro a trap and if Bolas would snatch the beacon from Ravnica, that'd be a huge red flag. In a way the planeswalkers set the trap up themselves, just how Bolas likes it.
Plus, it could very well be that it's not some standardized signal the beacon emits, but contains some of the planeswalker's spark's signature or whatever, because in Ignite the Beacon you see multiple planeswalkers calling out, when one would suffice if it was a standardized message. Having a beacon call out a message by Bolas would be the reddest of flags. Of course, this point is conjecture on my part, but it makes sense.

Which is why you don't have gigantic horns in every single plane you take over, Bolas has been shown to be capable of hiding what he is from his followers.

You don't have to turn the beacon on until it is on the right plane. Heck Ajani activating the beacon like is being shown doesn't really make much sense because it means he is inviting people too their Dooms because obviously there isn't a message attached else Ob Nix/Dack/Tibalt/Sorin/Nahiri wouldn't have shown up.
There’s a chance niv Mizzet became the new guildpact also gained the avatar
He’s potential 5-colored now on a card cal “niv-Mizzet! Reborn” also he’s not just a dragon anymore he’s now a dragon avatar
I can’t shake the feeling him or ugin will be the one to defeat bolas once and for all
Oh one more wager I bet Jace sees the stuff happening in the trailer which is liliana betraying bolas and having the eternals attack him hes smiles and realizes that’s the signal to bring vraskas memories back
Sweet jesus. Are the Amonkhet gods back as bolas's zombie servants?
Looks like it. Thinking on it we did have a number unanswered questions about bolas plot on Amonkhet (like what he was using the corrupted gods after the hours, why the mummies took away the god's corpses, ect) and looks like we might be getting those answers.
Kinda cool with is turning a bit into Amonkhet 2.

I'm confused on how the Amonkhet gods could be brought to Ravnica, even with the planar bridge. Granted, i wouldn't necessarily consider them to be 'alive' (at their most basic, they are just mana constructs), but gods are comprised of leylines that are rather specifically tied to their plane of origin. Beyond that if Bolas could just bring them to Ravnica without complications, why would he even bother with Lilliana when the Scarab God could just control the eternals like it did in Hour of Devastation?
Perhaps there's a reason the planar bridge seems to constantly stay open beyond just letting in more eternals. By keeping it open, the leylines composing the gods merely extend from Amonkhet through the portal and onto Ravnica (in which case, closing the portal would effectively snuff out the gods).
Of course, they could also just be mana replicas of the actual undead gods back on Amonkhet (like the flavor text for the Ajani's Pridemate explains for it), but that's the boring explanation.

Anyway, I simply refuse to believe Dack Fayden is dead. Also, with all the - supposedly - stolen sparks flying towards Bolas, they would have to kill like every walker on Ravnica. Several times.
So I am taking this like Infinity War. Half of the heroes got dusted, but they'll be back somehow. We'll see.

New walker info, the "Hat mage" is indeed the Wanderer that was mentioned source is Tolarian Community College;
-Unknown where the Wanderer came from, her name or her goals, how she was cursed though a peaceful end is probably not in the stars for her.
-Very effective warrior and has the magical skill to absorbs and redirect kinetic energy through her sword. Very skilled against bigger foes.
-She is cursed to forever planes walk, the skill not tiring her and she normally must focus in order not to be flung onto another plane.
Interesting take on a white planeswalker and her card has no planeswalker type which is weird in a fun way.

Anyway, I simply refuse to believe Dack Fayden is dead. Also, with all the - supposedly - stolen sparks flying towards Bolas, they would have to kill like every walker on Ravnica. Several times.
I always assumed that the conflict would have more planeswalkers than are shown on cards. 90% of the planeswalkers are probably extras we never get to see. In my headcanon all the planeswalker avatars from the duel decks are present in the war and get offed.
I'd assume that the beacon is only a signal, not a portal or whatever, so planeswalkers would still need to navigate to the plane with the beacon, hence being a plane planeswalkers shouldn't worry about stepping foot on is a crucial part of the plan.
Which is why you don't have gigantic horns in every single plane you take over, Bolas has been shown to be capable of hiding what he is from his followers.
Well, gotta remember that Bolas is pretty vain. He has shown that he can be quite deceptive / long-term in his thinking over time, but when he lays claim to something, he makes it his.
Well, this is very likely the chain of events:
1) Bolas nukes the Guildpact Hall with the Planar Bridge and his army.
2) Ajani uses the Beacon to call everyone.
3) They show up.
4) Bolas has Tezzeret move the Immortal Sun to Ravnica, trapping the PWs there.
That is, the PWs who responded to the Beacon didn't know that they would be trapped when they came. Also, we are assuming that there was a message. Why? The Beacon could just pull PWs without their consent. After all, why in the world would Angrath or Ob Nixilis realistically respond to a call for aid? Even if they would oppose Bolas, I doubt they'd stick their head into that trap.
So, with the Beacon specifically, Ajani is likely on Ravnica when Bolas shifts there, and scrambles for a response. Ral Zarek tells him how to use Project Firebug as a Beacon. Ajani and the story circle use it. Unfortunately for them, Ral Zarek works for Bolas, and it doesn't work as advertised: instead of sending out a call, it hooks the PWs in. Basically, Bolas manipulates his enemies into luring more people into his trap. Which is why he didn't want to kill the Gatewatch in Amonkhet.
This may also explain Angrath's siding with Bolas. He is finally free of Ixalan, and the good guys pull him into another trap. Talk about triggered...
Also, yeah, I need to take back some of my speculation about the trailer. My timing was a bit off, and the reverse time may not be temporal magic. Having said that, that was roughly half of the trailer. While it may not be people messing with time, it seems quite a lot of time to show time moving backward.
Yeah I am guessing technically the good guys turned on the beacon cause they needed back up while that works for Bolas just fine...he didn't actually summon all the Walkers.
Yeah I think a number of walkers being killed and the sparks flying around will be mostly be unknowns. I think Bolas plot would need more than 36 other planeswalker sparks.

I'm fairly positive Dack isn't dead. That Eternal took his spark, and for all we know that's a traumatic experience in and of itself. If the Eternal was trying to kill him, it'd be like that horde of Eternals hacking and slashing away at Gideon before Liliana orders them to attack Bolas instead.
