Curious as to why Ugin made no attempt to go to his old friend Azor. Seeing how Azor has been waiting on Ugin and their plan to imprison Bolas. You would think he owes Azor an explanation as to what happened and would want to check on him.
1) Reading the subtext Azor seems to see Ugin more as a friend then Ugin does of Azor, suggesting Ugin was more using Azor.
2) Post-Mending Ugin probability can't use the spell to talk between planes so checking in on Azor would have trapped Ugin on Ixalan.
3) Knowing Bolas won't be surprising if he had killed Azor/ Azor dying of no longer being a walker after giving up his spark.

I mean, Ugin might not have the power anymore to give Azor back his spark, so he'd be trapped on Ixalan with him.
Plus, he might have had other stuff on his plate since he kinda stopped being dead. For example the inevitable end of everything caused by the lack of eldrazi.

I'm really starting to get this feeling about Ugin. Between his interactions with Sorin&Nahiri, Azor, and the Gatewatch... it's looking more and more like Ugin is just as bad as Bolas when it comes to manipulating people into doing his bidding, then throwing them away once they're no longer useful.
Yeah Ugin knew what the Immortal Sun did but he doesn't know that it's gone so if he goes to physically check on Azor he'd be trapped. That's suboptimal. He also knew that Azor was willing to make that sacrifice. I mean once he inevitably runs into Jace again he will know about the goings on on Ixalan and might go check on him but, as others have pointed out, Ugin seems to be just as into using people as pawns as Bolas is.
Considering that the first plot that happens after Ugin's resurrection was Battle for Zendikar he might not have had time for it exactly, what with the multi-planar spiders freed from their seal and all.
Ugin IS an ancient dragon. And ancient dragons are, by their very nature, self-righteous, arrogant, spiteful and manipulative. So even a guy like Ugin, who genuinely wants to do what's best for the multiverse and genuinely cares for his comrades, would have no qualms doing what ancient dragons do, which is scheme, exploit and manipulate. Dragons be dragons is all.
All true, except he has never shown any amount of care for his comrades. He has treated them like tools at every opportunity with no concern for their well being physical or mental.

Ugin doesn't throw people away, he simply look the other way, Bolas kills or destroys things, people and worlds he has no use for.

Don't forget: Ugin was recuperating from fighting Bolas for most of that time. So, similar story to Sorin and Nahiri. After that, he was kinda preoccupied.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Azor is a kitty needing attention, and Ugin was one of the first he thought to be a "comrade" or "friend". Given their godlike capability and Ugin's need for calculated procedure, the two work together, though as some already pointed out that Ugin was more likely using Azor than not.
Ugin input secret message to Jace so when he got telepathically intruded he'd automatically planeswalk to Ixalan, perhaps he was indeed weary of going to Ixalan by himself when Bolas is watching AND Eldrazi was roaming free. Besides, if Ugin went to Ixalan he would not be able to escape and he lacks Tezz's ability to transport the Sun out of Ixalan, he'd be locked just like Azor.
While Azor's loyalty was misguided, I do appreciate that he would attempt to rid the multiverse of Bolas at the expense of his own freedom.
Sidetrack: And Ugin being colorless had me wondered if he was related to Eldrazi in some ways, perhaps in ways of shaping mana. Ugin said he wanted to study Eldrazi, what if he was the progenitor of Eldrazi's creation in the first place, but it went out of control. (Emrakul mentioned she wasn't "ready" to become who she was meant to be). Perhaps Ugin has his own evil plot (or what he deemed justice) akin to Bolas's in severity...

I forgot about this and this shows a plan by Ugin and to the point of him using people.
Besides, if Ugin went to Ixalan he would not be able to escape and he lacks Tezz's ability to transport the Sun out of Ixalan, he'd be locked just like Azor.
Yes this must be the main point of why. But I would assume they could just destroy it anyways.

It's a weapon of tremendous power, they'd use it before destroying it if possible.
Consider Ugin read Jace's mind, he knew Jace was the Living Guildpact who could overpower Azor. Had Ugin anticipated Azor might not cooperate and Jace would be the best person against him? If so, this is quite a betrayal and manipulation Ugin did to his old ally, and further proves that Ugin never saw Azor as true friend.
Plot Twist: Ugin and Bolas were lovers and they fought because neither wants to wash dishes.

As the one who always ends up washing the dishes, even though I'm ALSO the one who cooks (usually because they've sat in the sink until such a time as I need them so that I can cook again).... totally plausible.
Honestly, Ugin might've been lying about being able/willing to give Azor his spark back. Azor himself is a threat to the Multiverse, obviously he's not nearly as horrible as Bolas, but he's still a pathological narcissistic tyrant obsessed with bringing order to worlds by remaking them in his own image. Ugin might've intended to leave Azor stranded on Ixalan or possibly even kill him once Bolas was destroyed. His whole plan could've been a way of taking out two birds with one stone.

Maybe Yawgmoth has the right idea; put them all in an arena, stripped of power, and fight to death.

Exactly. So after that happened you'd think he'd get word to Azor after Sorin got him out of the hedron.
