I can see why you would think that's Teferi's son as opposed to Teferi himself, he does appear to be younger than the other iterations of Teferi we've had. However I imagine it's just artist discretion where Teferi being old wasn't a crucial part of his art, and it wasn't passed along, and was missed, as it appears to me that the clothes / staff are similar enough that I would have a hard time imagine young Teferi wearing old daddy's clothes and them fitting so nicely.
Yeah, I could be wrong, or maybe I’m just hoping there isn’t as much facial discrepancy between artworks as the possibility of both of these being Teferi implies.
I’m admittedly bad at noticing differences in facial characteristics between persons of African descent and between persons of the same ethnic minority in general, my area is unfortunately not very diverse, but even I noticed some differences between the two artworks.
If it is Teferi I’m curious also how he got his spark/planeswalker potential back.

Pretty sure it is Teferi. The clothing is very similar. And I am sure they wanted to bring back some recognizable names, and not just their offspring. I mean, who remembers the Future Sight descendants like Baru, Fist of Krosa etc.?

Still convinced the guy on Beseech the Queen is wearing a Mitra-type hat. Wake up sheeple!

I am guessing she will be one of the 4 this year..and that instead of "can be commander" clause being a thing again they are just gonna let planeswalkers be legal commanders..and ban the ones that will be trouble.
I dont think this will happen. Wizards is not in control of the Commander format so they are not able to make that desicion.
No they are not in control, but they know the people who are and can put pressure on, do you think the Silver Boardered Winter was the Rules Committee Idea?

You mean the period where Unstable cards where allowed? Yes I think it was. Because its their format. I dont think Wizards pushed them to allow Unstable cards temporarily.
Dominaria looks all wrong to me. The art, I mean. Yeah, I get it - sleek digital art is the new norm for Magic, but Dominaria was given form by the likes of Rebecca Guay, Kev Walker, Daren Bader, Ron Spears, John Avon, Mark Tedin, rk Post, and Matthew D. Wilson. These are the artists who breathed life into the world and sculpted it like clay. Obvious and prevalent CG art works fine for other worlds, but seeing it here on Dominaria is... sad to me. It doesn't feel at all to me like Dominaria. Even when the older artists used computers to help generate their work, they typically still sketched their work out by hand and were able to maintain a painted quality.
In particular, that paladin. She looks like she belongs in Return to Ravnica block, not Dominaria. The artwork for those elves is also too sleek, too polished--it looks almost like a piece for Zendikar.
I'll get used to it, maybe. But it will take a while.
Side note: I can confirm that the circle sigil is indeed for Serrans thanks to Cessation. Look at the shield.
Jeezzzzzz .... Talk about a call back... and this is one of my favourite Serran related art and all (Mark Zug <3 ). Oh, details~
This adds more question into the mix tho, because this sigil is of the post-Serra-departure Realm that was headed by Radiant (I didn't see it being brandished by any angel in the pre-Serra-departure in Urza's Saga ).
Unless this was a symbol that was mostly used by the Serran army and was adopted overall by the New Order...

The elves artwork is by Chris Rahn though, one of the few MtG artists who still use oils on hardboard.
According to the new art for Ihsan's Shade, it was used by the Serra Paladin on Ulgrotha. So definitely post-Realm, but since Serra herself brought it on Ulgrotha, it must have already been used in her Realm.

You realize Chris Rahn is a traditional painter, right? He's just that good.
Edit: This came off way more aggressively than I intended so I'm cutting it down. My point was just that don't let your nostalgia for the technically weaker art of Magic's past to overshadow the strong skills of all of their current artists. Even the digital artists sketch out their work.

Wow. His stuff is fantastic, I love that new Brainstorm art. He is good.
I thought the new Angelic Page HAD to be digital.
Nope. We've got some really top tier traditional artists here. The problem is (and the reason we often got lower quality art) is that traditional painting takes time that the development cycle doesn't really allow for.

Valid point. Still, Terese Nielsen....I guess it depends how much lead time the artists have prior to release. They must be on a tight schedule these days, with the rate of set release.

Nice! Hourglass imagery. Hourglass on not-Narset's belt. I'm dying to know what's been going on on Dominaria.
I guess the post-Ulgrotha Planeswalker Serra Church symbol got a bit of a facelift (or a retcon, seeing that even Ihsan has it)?
Or maybe the Church got a new leader who loves minimalist, subtle stylings (I can already imagine an Anna Wintour-ish/Edna Mode-ish character )
