Yeah Radha looks different, but I can see her appeaeance as the result of a natural progression. As far as I remember she was still pretty young back in Time Spiral.
Yeah she was young back in those days. She got all Zurgo on us. I'm for it. Was how I used to picture Doyenne Tajamin.
Arvad is hot, in that Auron way. Tiana is not what I expected. Getting very, um, what's her name from Firefly, the engineer? And Tali'Zorah.
Kaylee (Kaywinnet Lee Frye). Yeah, that was my impression of her as well.
And yeah, Arvad's kinda lookin daddy af. I get the vague, speculative and totally unfounded feeling than he and Tiana might be a thing. (I hereby christen thee, the good ship Arvana.)
I personally disliked the image on her Heir to Keld card, because it did not fit her description in the novel. This is far more like the brutish half-elf-half-Keldon described there. Not to mention she is older, and even though being half-elf and aging more slowly, it can be expected she aged 10-20 years into a equivalent of 40-45 human years.
She has the feel of the original (not the stupid DD blonde bombshell) Lovisa Coldeyes. And I like that.

I agree about Blue's obsession with illusions, though in the interest of fairness, Jace hasn't ever had his illusion magic represented in a walker card until Cunning Castaway.
We now have Teferi for time magic, but hydromancy, polymorphism (transfiguration in Harry Potter speak) and cryomancy are all blue magics that could use more showcasing from important characters in the story.

I mean there isn't really any indications that thats even vaguely elvish. I guess one could argue that shes half-elf so you wouldn't notice her ears but honestly if not for the slight curve in the chest I would have thought that was a dude wearing geisha make-up.
Meh. One way or another its fine I guess. Its just that for me her creature card is the only version I have in my mind so something that different is offputting.
Can someone refresh my recollection? I'm confused as to why it's called "Karn's Temporal Sundering." Wasn't it Urza's fault? His machine and all. I may be wrong though.
I think one of the more tragic figures from the Weatherlight 1.0 was Crovax. Tortured, essentially, his whole life as a Legacy project until he lost everything and was cursed, and when offered to be freed of his grief and his conscience, turned into like a personification of pure evil. So hopefully Arvad is a decent fellow, to make up for Crovax.
I'm excited to see what that Gix person is all about. Maybe they're affiliated with the Mishra school? Also, there's been no confirmation that Gix is dead, from all that I remember. Just got launched into a portal or something to somewhere. Gix 2020!
That Urborg art is utterly and sinisterly adorable.
I am a total fan of Black sometimes being a charismatic colour, still dangerous and self inclined but you want to hug it nonetheless.
Economies are hugely important and I’m actually surprised that MTG has not created a merchant PW who specializes in interplanar markets, and has a magical affinity for understanding and anticipating value.

It is quite possible that Karn sunders the various timelines of Dominaria from each other (during the set story) which might be the official explanation of the 'retcon' away from the post-apocalyptic setting of Time Spiral block.
(I put retcon in quotes above because I frankly find it a bit difficult to use the value-laden term retcon when something receives a fully justified reason for occurring in a story. And time travel stories, or stories of their aftermath, are virtually impossible to have retcons in.)
Radha isn't an isolated case. Different artists have always depicted characters subtly different from other artists drawing the same character. Look at some of Lilliana's cards, for instance, or cards depicting Jhoira (there is a list on the wiki page about her character). Its an inevitable result of different artists having different skills and styles, and the style guides can only do so much to keep things consistent. The most consistent character they have yet to portray is probably Jace, but even then that is likely because he likes to hide his face under that cloak. The variance is a sign that real human beings are drawing these characters as opposed to making a 3d model and slapping that onto every card like they could do with modern technology. As long as they don't make really obvious continuity mistakes like happened in Commander 2017 to Taigam, and as long as the art quality in general remains high, I can live with and even embrace the artistic differences that appear across sets to characters we've seen previously.
Can someone refresh my recollection? I'm confused as to why it's called "Karn's Temporal Sundering." Wasn't it Urza's fault? His machine and all. I may be wrong though.
It was Urza's time machine, but you could attribute the temporal sundering to Karn's actions just like Tarkir's timeline split due to Sarkhan's actions. Karn had traveled to the past before without changing it because he followed Urza's explicit instructions to merely observe both his internal state (so Urza could monitor how well Karn stood up to temporal stress) and the external environment (how Karn discovered the Phyrexian incursion in the first place). When Urza gave Karn the opportunity to go back in time and actually change things in order to save Jhoira's life (and by extension, the rest of the school, which was Urza's real goal), Karn didn't hesitate to do so despite knowing the risks. Afterwards, the only people who had knowledge of both timelines was Karn and (I guess because he was operating the machine) Urza. Everyone else just had to take their word for it that there were now two timelines.

I have to agree she looks more like a Half Orc or Full Orc? I thought she was Zurgo Helmsmasher Sister as opposed to a Half Elf (and really she is more Elf then Keldon) which makes it worse. I mean have we ever seen an Elf look like that before? Elspeth kicked plenty of butt without looking like she jucied on Garruk's Secret Herbal Growth Hormone. And no there was nothing to suggest Radha was like 14 in the past before people start saying she got older.
It's her half-Keldon that may her look like an orc. Judging from art on the cards depicting Keldons, they aren't completely humans, they are hulking brutes with grey skin.

You find me a female Keldon that looks like that before Radha and I will buy that argument but again remember she is more Elf by Blood then Keldon. She is like 75% Elf. Seems more of a change based on WOTC current agenda driven push.
Latulla, Keldon Overseer is a sturdy woman, but she didn't look as roided as Radha..
Her last art was a great depiction, with badass flavor text. Dominaria has been awesome, so this one iffy artwork should not be that bad.
Also, i kinda like Raff. Jace could teach him a trick or two. Being a Capashan and so young brings a lot of responsibillity for the young mage. He isn't a prodigy like Ertai and he knows it and his Captain does as well.

Really I see him first to die as cannon fodder. Especially since they really wanted his sister.
But yeah that is my point Latulla looks strong and the old Radha does as well...they don't look like they pumped Steroids. No one is asking for Radha to be as thin and soft looking as Nissa here.

That's why i like him. He has the odds against him, still he's willing to prove himself as a worthy heir to the name Capashen. He might be canon fodder, he might pull a Gerrard and sacrifice himself for his people or he might pull trough and impress his crewmates. I dunno, but i like the uncertainy of his character because of his apparant "flaws".

Well I say he is cannon fodder cause its motivation for his sister, and we know four more powerful mages are going to show up in this story. Teferi, Jodah, Jaya and his biggest problem, Jace Beleren. Although Teferi and Jodah should also be able to cast illusions just fine. Plus considering how much Belzenlok loves making history or claiming credit for. I am sure he want to add Slayer of Capashen to his resume.
As I said earlier I thought Radha was Zurgo Helmsmasher (Khans Version) Sister. And I say the changes to her go a bit beyond artistic liberty then again WOTC struggles with Gideon maintaining any consistent coloration.
I don't know what the beef is with Radha. We've never seen a female Keldon Warlord before. Latulla wasn't one. Sure, she's part elf, part Keldon, but if her life is battle, against big Keldon men no doubt, do you think she'd remain small, lithe Radha from Time Spiral? It's just unrealistic to expect her to still be wearing a ridiculous crop-top with exposed midriff with little muscle mass and be able to defeat and control Keldons.
She's a Warlord. She's going to be covered in armor. She's going to be muscular. I've zoomed in on my own screenshot of her new art and it's fine. In fact, it's pretty badass. She's got a dead guy there, blood on her hands up to her elbows, and no blood on her sword. Like holey hell, she shredded this dead guy with her bare hands! And that look of confidence. She may be part elf, but she's all about the Keldon life now.
I don't think this is anywhere close to how bad that Nissa planeswalkers art was, back in Zendikar or whatever, where she looked like she was balding.
First, No one is complaining about her not wearing a metal crop top anymore. That is obviously absurd. And not related at all.
Second, again she is an half elf? Technically, she is more Elf then she is Keldon. Ergo how many roided up male elfs have we seen?
Third, physical strength is only part of the equation in MtG Universe considering you know magic exists. She is more ripped then Koth now.
I suppose you think Elsepth should have been the same right? How is she killing all those monsters without being Roided up like new Radha?

This was my immediate thought as well.
Wholeheartedly agree. We get it. Blue likes illusion. How about any of the numerous other blue aligned magics for a change? Right?
Well Teferi looks pretty different as well. Jodha and Jhoira look like they should I guess.
But Radha looks like she is juicing like Garruk. Those Green Mana Users and their stash.
Arvad is hot, in that Auron way. Tiana is not what I expected. Getting very, um, what's her name from Firefly, the engineer? And Tali'Zorah.

Do you know any other Keldon/elf female hybrid? ? ;-) When it swims like a duck, quacks like a duck...
Frankly, we had a grand whole of TWO images of her - Undying Rage and Radha, Heir to Keld.
I personally disliked the image on her Heir to Keld card, because it did not fit her description in the novel. This is far more like the brutish half-elf-half-Keldon described there. Hey what's the link to these character cards anyway?
I mean I like these.
Oh and there's something I should tell you raven mans card there
Its a Fake
Look at the set symbol and compare it to the others
Notice there's a foggy circle raven mans dominaria symbol but the others don't and I think belzenloks doesn't have a foggy cycle either
I think that symbol on the raven man was photoshopped or something
Yeah, I see.
