I hope this whole reincarnation theory turns out to be false, the OG weatherlight crew was amazing (Mirri was always my favorite) buuuuuuuuut, they're dead and gone and they should stay that way.
As for people who don't like the fact that they're focusing too much on non-walker... i kinda' agree, Mirri, Teysa, Anafenza and Avacyn are 4 of my favorite characters in MTG, and they're not walkers (woudn't mind Teysa being though) and i love reading their stories. But the fact is, let's use the new Weatherlight crew as an example, they're being developed which is amazing, specially giving the fact that they're the "protagonists" of Dominaria. But once Dominaria is done it's going to take another decade for us to see them again, on the other hand planeswalkers can show up anywhere, even if they have nothing to do with the place they're in, so it makes sense that people want to learn more about walkers then non-walkers, simply because it wont take a decade for them to see their favorite walker again.
Nobody is complaining about focusing on non-walkers this time around because it actually matters for the story for once, as for not wanting reincarnation I can generally understand that, I am not actually in love with the "just replace the crew with 2.0 versions" however The Weatherlight soul spirit thing didn't get a great deal of time to be an actual character, and could only ever talk to Karn so she could use another shot at existence.

All of this is valid. Dead characters should stay dead. The characters so far are very well fleshed out.
As far as seeing the characters enduring beyond the direct story, well....originally the Weatherlight could planeswalk, so that might be a thing. Time will tell. I'd be disappointed not to see these characters again, because so far this set is looking fantastic. Fingers crossed. That being said it's yet to be seen whether the current quest of the Weatherlight will take them into the 'verse. Once Karn is involved, very possible, given the annexation on New Phyrexia.
Well my issue is more 4 chapters down and actual important characters haven't shown up once. Heck half of them have them have not even been referenced. So the question is do we have time to wrap this out without rushing while providing some backstory on what they were doing for 60 years. Cause if we don't then yeah Arvad and Tiana can sit in the back while characters like Teferi, Karn, Jaya and Jodah get some screentime. We were sold Teferi and Karn pretty heavily in the marketing. That needs to be paid off satisfactorily. I like the idea of non walker side characters getting some story time but I am not sure this set with the massive amount of material it has to cover is the right one.
This story has to reintroduce Dominaria, catch us up on the plane, reunite a bunch of legacies and classic characters, deal with Liliana's last demon, fight a war with the Cabal and have time for Bolas to sweep in. 33% of the way done and all Lili and Gideon have done is taken out Josu while Jhoira has just put together a team but that team is still missing characters you expect (Teferi, Karn, Jodah and Jaya). So yeah I don't mind new characters getting some shine but I am not really sure given the pacing issues that this is the set that should be doing that.
But you also don't have any clue how long Jhoira, Teferi, Karn, Weatherlight will be involved in the story. It could be for the next several sets for all you know. If the Weatherlight can travel off world again, there's a really good chance all of the characters in the story will see regular rotation.

I think that in the current canon event if the ship could travel between planes, the passagenrs would just die during the travel.

I don't care how long they will be around, I don't care if a character is a Planeswalker or not, I care that we aren't wasting 1/8th of a sets short stories on things that don't matter like we did in SoI.

No, that's actually how it has always been. Xantcha famously describes planesalking as being more like falling and screaming, after all. But yeah, the novels explicitly stated that even stone could be cracked by planar energy, to say nothing of what it does to flesh. However, unlike Rashmi, Urza had centuries of experience moving people through the Eternities anyway even before he built the Weatherlight. The trick was shielding people from the Aether, which is also how Bolas's Lazotep mummies can theoretically be moved between planes. The Lazotep shields the dead fleshy bits from harm, so they won't be turned to dust. IIRC the way the Weatherlight protected its crew was by creating a demiplane around itself every time it planeshifted off Dominaria. Really. That's why it required a powerstone with all the energy of Serra's realm to planeshift without the help of Urza or some other experienced planeswalker.
The only thing the stories indicate has changed about the Blind Eternities is that the borders between planes is "thicker" somehow (according to Nahiri's narration). But otherwise, the fact Rashmi was able to make a functioning planar bridge shows the metaphysics to be the same as it always was.
So far, I'm really enjoying the non-Planeswalker characters getting such a major spotlight. It really feels like that they be trying to setup the Weatherlight crew as a B-Team to the Gatewatch, C-Team if you want to count Tamiyo's story circle. Having recurring non-Planeswalker character be a central focus of multiple stories would be an interesting shift to say the least. Granted, this hinges on the fact that they need to be able to use the Planeswalking engines on the Weatherlight.
Other than that, I'm really enjoying Tiana and Arvad's dynamic. It's nice to see non-characteristic Vampires and Angels. The rest of the crew so far, feels like they're trying to honour their ancestors, whilst trying to define themselves from them. I really hope that we see more of this new Weatherlight crew, and it's not a decade before we see them again.

Perhaps Serra’s death isn’t a retcon but her church made up beautiful tales about her importance, up it by a few levels.
Wouldn't that mean that both sides of the spectrum (the Belzenlok-led Cabal and the Church of Serra) aren't above making **** up?
Well, the Church of Serra was inspired by PW herself, which became a cultural backbone of Benalish, so it's not completely baseless when legend suggested her death purified it, while Belzi's Cabal completely steal other people's glory.
I'm enjoying the stories so far, though my personal preference would be less emphasis on the descriptions everywhere. I prefer general outlines I can make into something more concrete in my mind.
Some thoughts:
1) Tiana being a reincarnation of someone, I could understand. Especially with her being an Angel and all (even though reincarnated Angels isn't really the norm in MtG). If it's the case, I would prefer it being the Weatherlight itself instead of Hanna - I was always in love with sentient ships. But if Arvad also turns out to be a reincarnation, that's where I draw the line. I like Arvad so far and I hope he's just an original, new character.
2) Arvad being drawn to the Powerstone I would attribute not to any machinations (by Bolas or whoever else), though I can see how they could explain it that way if they need to in the future. It's like a backdoor in case they need some conflict for Arvad in future sets. Being drawn to something that can cure you (or at least help you) is a natural instinct that most beings have (there are even studies that say people develop appetite for food that can help cure their illness without even knowing they are sick).
3) My bet on the next chapter would be Chandra. We haven't seen her for a while and my bet is on her story being the one that introduces Jaya.
4) I don't see the entire crew becoming a planeswalking strike team - we already have the Gatewatch for that. But I do believe they will be involved in any plot regarding the Phyrexians, since Karn will loop them in somehow. This will also clearly be set up depending on who is in Bolas's Clutches. If it's a member of the Weatherlight, then they are here to stay as they will have a motivation to help fight Bolas too.
5) Serra's new death I would attribute to (1) romantization of history and (2) the passage of time. We see throughout the set and the story that people don't have a clear grasp on what exactly happened and the legends they make up are in some way different to what went down. Though I do agree that it draws an interesting parallel between the Angels and Belzenlok.
6) We know Teferi is going to play a somewhat large part in the story, since there needs to be a section where Jhoira gets him his Spark, he needs to struggle for a bit with the decision (probably decides to re-Spark since his powers are urgently needed in the conflict), use his new powers, debate the state of the Blind Eternities with the Gatewatch and swear his Oath. That's at least 2-3 short stories worth of content. I wouldn't be too sure about Jodah, Jaya and Karn. Jaya will have one large chapter to herself with Chandra, but Jodah will probably just show up for a brief cameo. Karn I can see stepping in towards the end of the story, setting up things for the Phyrexian conflict.
Seems like Episode 3 was only a minor hiccup. I really enjoyed this week's story! The plot felt a bit … bare-bones and generic at times (especially towards the end and probably because of all the descriptions, like Huaojozu said), but it wasn't too bad overall. I liked the humorous bit at the beginning - it didn't feel forced to me and there was just enough of it to provide some amusement while not destroying the atmosphere.
Also Slimefoot (or what will become Slimefoot) had its first mention this week. I'm really looking forward to his character and his role in the story. It seems like he can't talk, so it'll be interesting to see how Wells handles his scenes.
Interestingly enough Primevals' Glorious Rebirth has now been spoiled with art and it shows all 5 dragons. On the other hand, it's not a story spotlight card, so it's probably not relevant to the plot of the set (that and we have heard absolutely nothing related in the released chapters) - though it's hard to imagine how such a huge event like that would not have impact on anything.

I think like Karn's time sundering and Urza's sylex blast, the Glorious Rebirth is referencing something long in the past, instead of something going on or even important to the present.
_______________
Based on discussions I've had in other threads over the years, the neowalker spark is supposedly only a means to travel between planes. It doesn't prolong life, it doesn't (or shouldn't) boost power and ability. So a neowalker who would lose their spark would not (or should not) experience any change in power or ability except for the loss of interplanar travel.
So I don't think we should expect too much power boost for Teferi upon getting his spark. His abilities and powers before getting his spark back will remain the same when he can 'walk again. Which, I don't know, seems weird. You're living a peaceful life, with whatever abilities you have, and then someone comes over and says hey, you'll be able to planeswalk again! But if I were Teferi, I'd look at my home, my new life, my mortality and my certain death, all my mistakes and all the terrible things I've seen and experienced, and really doubt that I needed or wanted to planeswalk again. If the Gatewatch wants advice, guidance, education, he'll still be around to be a teacher until the day he dies.
Just my thoughts on the matter. Don't get me wrong, I dig 'walker Teferi. Just something I've been thinking about.
In that case, why does Teferi consider his spark a potential curse when he Opts to respark? It seems as though getting the spark back comes with no strings attached other than the ability to planeswalk. He might as well just respark and go back to his old life - the only thing that would change is that he would then have a way to escape from pretty much any danger. Just because he can planeswalk, doesn't mean he has to.
I'm hoping they really explore Teferi's thought process on whether to accept the spark or not (assuming he gets to make a decision and Jhoira doesn't just forces it in him - in which case the card probably wouldn't have been named Opt).

Planeswalkers are dangerous and he has a familly now so i guess he feels conflicted going back to the olds days of only conflict

So he fears that he would paint a target on his (family's) back by becoming a walker? I mean, it's clear that once he becomes a member of the Gatewatch, he becomes an enemy of Bolas and therefore a target. But if he were to get his spark back and then turn his back on the Gatewatch, would he really be considered a threat to anyone?
Neowalkers are on average more powerful then normal mages since the spark lets them channel mana from other planes (Ob mentions reconnecting to his old mana bounds when he gets re-sparks).
I'm guessing Teferi conflict is if he's a walker again he won't be able to stay out the conflic. He can live his life as mortal mage with his family or spark up and become a hero again.

Right, my point was that assuming that the spark doesn't carry any power enhancing features, resparking would not make you any more of a target. If I'm an archvillain, sooner or later I will come for Dominaria. I will have to deal with Teferi at that point, at the latest, whatever my plans for him are (ignore/manipulate/threaten/kill/etc.). That plan might have to be accelerated if Teferi suddenly starts planeswalking around, but it's unlikely to change.

It could be a moral thing.
He could see it as "Being able to intervene (in inter-planar affairs) carries with it the responsibility to do so." He can't just get his spark back and then do nothing with it without feeling that that amounts to tacit approval of all the awful stuff happening out there.
With respect to that line of thinking, having his spark back becomes a curse in that he simply can't carry on his life the way that he'd been doing.

I was under the impression it was meant to be a historic event, like the other legendary sorceries. Namely the resurrection of the dragons after freeing Crosis.
