What I'm looking forward the most is a little breather from the Bolas plot. It's not that I dislike Bolas as a villain, but it'd be nice not to get burnt o-
Wait what's this?
Hold on a second-
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Bolas is love. Bolas is life. Bolas is everything, and everything is Bolas.
That's probably a cabal member, and the cabal is run by Belzenlok. Since Belzenlok and Bolas are acquainted, there's a good chance he's working for Bolas like Razaketh on Amonkhet.
And just because the Bolas plot happens in the background, it doesn't have to be the focus of the story. I think showing off what the remaining oldwalkers have been up to and tying them in to the current story + Liliana killing her last demon so she is free of her pact (enabling her to take a stand firmly againstBolas, Chain Veil issues notwithstanding) can make for enough story. M19 can then focus more on what's happening with different parts in Bolas's plan (and Ajani/Ugin's) to set everything up proper for Ravnica 3 in october.
I'm pretty sure that some sort of Serran/Benalian paladin. I think the previous poster is just imagining patterns. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
Sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn't. If Alara and Amonkhet were any indication, Bolas isn't above manipulating even benign beings for his own ends.
You're not wrong, but I don't think those particular shapes on that particular art have any meaning.

This is Dominaria. Bolas has meddled here before. Even if he's not meddling now, I wouldn't be surprised to see people who either follow him using his horns as a symbol, or people who took up the symbol without fully understanding it. Heck, given that the last time we know Bolas was on Dominaria was during the mending, it is entirely possible that some Dominarians have deified him (much like Nahiri was believed to be a prophet of the gods of the Kor).

Also, symbolism is strong in Magic art. If you only look at the visual clues that were depicted on Ixalan cards about the whole Ugin/Azor involvement and how Jay13x pieced almost the whole story together based on a few art clues... details like this matter. There is no such thing as coincidence in magic art.

Well, there’s also seeing things that aren’t there. The helmet(hat?) that Champion of dusk wears looks more like Bolas’s horns than that art. Are those Bolas horns on the shoulder armor of Oathsworn Vampire? Is the Merfolk depicted in Negate an agent of Bolas with that hair? What about Everdawn champion? What about sanguine glorifier? What about Angarth or Dinosaurs with horns?

There is plenty of room for coincidence in Magic Art. Root Out prominently features what appears to be the Phyrexian symbol, Phi. I erroneously though there would be Ashiok involvement in Amonkhet. Learning to judge what might or might not be relevant is what makes the difference. My problem with Ixalan's Binding is that there weren't any other in-set clues, really. I was all on board when they revealed the Sphinx art, though.
Related, for Dominaria, some cool flavor notes. Chandra is wearing Jaya's Goggles in her planeswalker deck art, and Teferi's (now whole) staff has fabric like Jaya's robes on it. We're likely going to see something happen to her in this set.
Also, I really like the New Order of Serra/New Benalia mash up in the stained glass/floating city people.

Dominaria is the nexus of the Multiverse right ? ''The source of everything''
With so much story there it's obvious very powerful characters will be waiting there.
When it comes to Liliana, Razaketh used a hidden clause in their contract manage to gain control over Liliana. Also remember then when she killed Kothophed, the first demon she killed, Kothophed told her that killing him would not give her what she seeks. Adding to that Nicol Bolas is the one that redirected her to those 4 demons for the ''deal''. Possibly because he wanted her as a future servant.
Knowing Bolas, he would know better. There must be something in her contract that even by killing all 4 demons will not free her. Something she clearly is not aware of. Bolas could have corrupted or kill her before but didn't, maybe because he knows ultimately she is bound to serve him ? Maybe the contract, since performed by 4 demons serving Bolas was signed not by/only them but Bolas aswell ? Maybe he is the one who created such ''spell'' a contract spell that a black mana user can do and when done bounds servitude to Bolas ?
I don't know but i don't really think Liliana will be set free.
It's also interesting that Ajani and Garruk's (2 of the strongest planeswalkers lore wise) whereabouts are unknown. Unless Ajani is indeed waiting for them in Dominaria.
Garruk is heading somewhere unknown to us, slowly becoming a demon.
Lastly i find it interesting that Bolas is going to Ravnica. House to Niv-Mizzet. Either Bolas wants to stop Mizzet waking his planeswalker spark as he sees him as a threat if he later decides to join the Gatewatch OR and personally this is what i like to think, Niv-Mizzet is actually the right hand to Nicol Bolas. Will Bolas ignite his planeswalker spark ? Bolas is ruthless, yes, but he is also incredibly smart. He knows having pawns such as Tezzeret is good but risky as their loyalty comes from his influence. Having a right hand such Niv-Mizzet, someone who actually wants Bolas to succeed, maybe in the promise of power and knowledge beyond comprehension ? I don't know but it will be interesting to see what interaction they'll have. Both of them are ancient smart narcissistic dragons, Niv-Mizzet would make a great right hand for Bolas.

Its unlikely that Niv works for Bolas. We know Niv doesn't know about walkers and the fact that Ral is working directly under Bolas as opposed to being ordered to work on something by Niv that is of Bolas' design indicates that Niv is not a part of it. Also the fact that theyre both hyper-intelligent, narcissists is exactly the reason that Niv would make a poor right hand man to Bolas. I mean look at Tezz. He only works for Bolas, at this point at least, because he is physically bound to doing so. And he's probably not a quarter the brain or a tenth the ego of Niv.
Either Bolas wants Ravnica for its high planeswalker traffic or something special about the plane itself. This may or may not have to do with the plan that creative scrapped for RTR that would have moved Ravnica into the center of the multiverse, unseating Dominaria.

Teferi looks like Eddie Murphy. But this is all I can think of: in the first picture attached to the OP of this topic, Teferi looks like Eddie Murphy. It's seriously distracting and I can't unsee it, and now you can't either.
In the pictures from a toy con, over in the rumor mill, he looks like Levar Burton on the box of his Planeswalkers deck. Someone else said Kanye. Probably a result of different artists.
I am still not convinced that the black guy with hair is Teferi.
No. He’s Teferi’s son.
That’s my hypothesis. I know that as far as we know, the odds of a planeswalker having a planeswalker child would be infinitesimally small but it has to have happened once or twice right?
In statistics, rolling a d6 and getting a six 10, 20, even 100 times in a row is an exceedingly rare event but it can happen, will happen, if you roll enough.
The Multiverse is an ever rolling pile of dice, albeit with some dice influencing the roll of others. Planeswalkers having a planeswalker kid has to have happened or will happen eventually right? And that’s even just assuming that no other correlating facter doesn’t also intervene such as magic that transfers planeswalker sparks, potential genetic inheritance (I’m skeptical), technology, etc.

I made the exact same observation the other day, and laughed maniacally. It ruins nothing for me, I think it's awesome.
I can see why you would think that's Teferi's son as opposed to Teferi himself, he does appear to be younger than the other iterations of Teferi we've had. However I imagine it's just artist discretion where Teferi being old wasn't a crucial part of his art, and it wasn't passed along, and was missed, as it appears to me that the clothes / staff are similar enough that I would have a hard time imagine young Teferi wearing old daddy's clothes and them fitting so nicely.

The Vorthos community will await the consequences of the Eldrazi Titans' deaths/sealing. We will keep the watch.

Occam's razor, my friend.
I made the exact same observation the other day, and laughed maniacally. It ruins nothing for me, I think it's awesome.
