Holy crap!! My dad works for WOTC and he got a pic of this. Yes, it is real, and yes its from RIX!! He said that the CMC is 2B in case you are wondering, so how's this for legendary creatures!
OH MY GAWWWWWD ADRIAN THIS IS SOOOOOOOOOO AMAZINGG !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOOOOOOOOOVE YOUR DAAAAAAAAAAD.
On a more serious note, i think having a second dinosaur cycle is a waste.
I wonder which colors Kumena is going to be, alot of you guys are saying UB, but i don't see him as a black type, it not like the dude is cruel/selfish or even a sadist (i know black isn't all bad things)
Black uses any means necessary to secure a victory rather than limiting itself to what is morally acceptable. Seems perfectly in line with him wanting to use the immortal sun to turn back the outsiders even when it's considered by the merfolk an unacceptable danger for anybody to use the sun.
So if there is going to be a cycle of 5 elder dinosaurs, and if we can still safely expect at least one Merfolk, Pirate, and Vampire legend for those respective factions... we may be looking at 8+ legendary creatures in the next set. When was the last time a small set had so many legendary creatures?
Fate Reforged and Dragons Maze both had 10 legends in them.

I love Ixalan's Vampires. Ugh I can't believe I'm going to build another EDH deck. And I was just looking at Legion's Landing today thinking to myself "there are so many flavor text characters racking up, how will we catch up with them on cards?" Then bam, here he is!

You didn't actually bite that did you? That art looks like Yennifer from The Witcher. That *****s fake. Also I continue to maintain that the flip enchantment characters won't be getting creatur cards.
I just hope that Angarth is a good card. Hultai is terrible but Gideon of the Trials and Liliana, the Last Hope were both good.
As far as guessing his abilities, probably something to do with chaos. Dealing damage, discarding cards, and maybe even destroying lands.
Out of curiosity, what do Liliana, the Last Hope or Gideon of the Trials have to do with Angrath?
I was just saying that although Ixalan had weak planeswalkers, it wasn’t that long ago that Wizards made strong planeswalkers, so it’s tough to predict how good Angarth will be.

I am hoping he has Gideon's little signature become a creature thing, Angrath is a fighter it seems so he should be able to get into the Mix, I would love his Minus ability to be something like -x Put a colorless Equipment artifact token named Angrath's Weapon onto the battlefield. It has "Equipped creature gets +x/+x and Equip 1" or something along those lines to tie in with his backstory and being a blacksmith.

Considering Angrath primarily uses his chains to fight, and he can use them from a distance, I wouldn't bet on him having a Gideon-type ability. Samut is a close-quarters fighter, and she wasn't given that ability.
Not saying that would make it impossible, but it'd be less likely to me.

I wouldn't bet on it either, but I would still like to see a few more Planeswalkers who have Gideon like abilities that let them do more than sit back and cast like 90% of planeswalkers do, one of the biggest things MTG has lost in the recent years are battle mage characters like Gideon, Khamahl, Chainer and the like. It would be fun to have a planeswalker who can get in a legit fist fight with Gideon and have it repped on their cards.

Not saying that would make it impossible, but it'd be less likely to me.
Gideon primarily fights using his sural, which is really equivalent to Angrath's chains, but he gets to be a creature. That's not to say that Angrath WILL, just saying that his chains don't affect that possibility in the slightest when they're virtually the same thing as our primary "becomes a creature" walker's own weapon.

Angrath's tactic thus far has been to extend his chains to capture his enemy, keep them immobile with the chains, and then proceed to kill them with said chains by snapping some vital part of their body.
Gideon also can use the sural to immobilize the enemy, but the sural itself is bladed, which means he can get in up close and personal and slice and dice them with the sural.
I can see Angrath having a creature ability, don't get me wrong about that. I just don't think he will.
Angrath can go all Ghost Rider with his chains. As far as armed fighting styles go the two are practically the same.
I honestly wouldn't mind if every "fighting" walker that routinely engages in physical combat without using summons or magical attacks could become a creature. Samut was a missed opportunity there IMO, Huatli has her dinosaurs, and Narset had a noncreature spell theme.
According to the card from the planeswalker deck, Angarth is a necromancer.
His PWD card does include a recursion ability, but I'm not going to put too much stock in it until if/when we get some other indication as such. We've already got multiple necro-planeswalkers (Liliana and Bolas*), even if Angrath has some necromantic ability I doubt it'll be one of his foci.
Sorin, Lord of Innistrad also has a sort of recursion ability, but it's flavored as him making them a vampire, not raising the dead.
*Note that while Bolas has skill with necromancy lore-wise, none of his physical cards use recursion of any sort.
According to the thread in the rumor mill discussing the PWD cards its been confirmed that there will be 6 legendary dinos in addition to whatever else there is. So a full horizontal cycle plus, more than likely, a 5 color one.
According to the card from the planeswalker deck, Angarth is a necromancer.
Planeswalkers card abilities aren't 100% of what the walker can really do. Karn cat use time travel magic anymore but that was the theme for his planeswalker card.

The difference though is that we know Karn could do that kind of thing at one point. Angrath is a brand new character, so it's jarring to see him have a reanimation ability when we've never been given any indication of such. It's not even the white reanimation, which revives a person as opposed to raising them from the dead.

True, but this also isn't his "real" card and we seen that the starter deck walkers are more mechanically based. We already seen Vraska stripped of green to work for the starter deck but I don't think that means anything about her character (similar to Nissa still being secondary blue after Amonkhet despite her starter deck making her mono-green).
What I guess I should have said is we shouldn't judge what a character in lore can do based on what their card can do.

I'm actually not big on Angrath's role in this story. Don't get me wrong, he's sympathetic and likeable in a blundering, pitiable kind of way, but Ixalan has really been threatening to overshadow its native characters with foreign, visiting planeswalkers.
I'd rather see characters like Kumena, Mavren Fein, Adrian, Tishana, Apatzec, and Huatli (if they can just make her, you know, interesting) take central roles. With so much focus on the Jace and Vraska already, the story feels in danger of being taken over not by the inhabitants and cultures of this rich new world, but by visitors from abroad who are desperately trying to leave.

It's not a 5 card cycle
It's a six card cycle
Most likely one of each color and the sixth one most likely being 5-color dinosaur
the moment That black elder dinosaur got spoiler something's telling me there's going to be a 5-color dinosaur legendary.
