That seems like Bolas being much more true to his word than many expected. Nice.
Everything that has been happening or is hinted at happening in Hour of Devastation thus far has either been true to what Bolas promised, or at least very close, which is saying something given who we're talking about.

Except the residents didn't realize that the Eternals will come back to destroy their former home. At least that's the feel of the cards as well as Bolas's personality, he has a thing for turning people against theselves.

I'm specifically refering to the theories regarding the fate of the worthy. Eternals would be their title after the Hour of Eternity - and that means they aren't going to be simply a swarm of black horrors or batteries for Bolas's re-ascension.
This and the seeds the other flavor text plants regarding a possibility of the people of Amonkhet even discovering hints of the time before their world was restricted to a single oasis makes this set seem much more hopeful than its name would have made me expect.
EDIT: How does Djeru the Eternal sound as the name of a Magic-card?

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.
[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
One Demon vs. Five Planeswalkers, who do you really think wins?
I like the way it played out. Demon owns Liliana, actually makes her lose control of her emotions. Then rest of the gatewatch attacks, gains upper hand on Demon. Liliana recovers and brutally kills Razaketh by animating all the animals and having them tear him apart. Definitely a gross and painful way to die.
Its good development- its the first time we've really seen all five of them work together well in tandem to bring down an enemy. And it also sets up for Bolas's return (and presumed complete victory over them). There won't be any excuses here- their powers work fine, as we just saw. They work together fine, as we just saw. So if Bolas does what we think Bolas is going to do, its more proof of how ungodly badass he is, not that the Gatewatch got somehow nerfed by the situation.
I'm fine with the handling of Razaketh, but I really was expecting a cliffhanger ending with Bolas showing up to spoil their fun, so I kinda feel like they missed an opportunity there.
So now that he is dead, can we still get a card for him? I mean he dies within an hour of his entrance lol.
Also cool how the gatewatch used gids to prot lily from chandra's AoE Nuke. Cool how jace used invisibility to sneak Gids near Lily.
Also if demons are usually 5/5 it really was overkill
5/5 got smashed by 4/4 elemental, got wrecked by 2/2 zombies got fameslashed. Demon stood no chance.

MtG is where you can hate white players or black players, and still not be racist.
I knew it - I had no expectations of Razaketh and those expectations were not exceeded. The last demon, by virtue of being last, gives me a bit of hope (but not enough for me to remember his name). At least Razaketh gave a fight instead of promptly getting destroyed by a veil.
I hope they give an exposition about his relation to Bolas and the five (or eight) trials later - he didn't seem artificial, so he could have been always around (before now) or somehow brought over by Bolas from elsewhere.

Melek got 5mins so I think as big of a character as Razaketh would get one. I bet with a mind control effect as well.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
It was an anti-clamatic ending, but the actual writing was engaging. The most interesting part for me was Jace, as her ally, inspiring her not to use the Chain Veil, a hint that the GW may be a reason to abandon it and its curse altogether. The only issue is the conflict her fury created resulting a rift between her new friends. The idea she was so vicious with a demon sets up Lilliana's future in a clever way - who was the real monster? He could have killed her, but was toying, while she tore him apart. His was a quest of power, hers started as one for independence and has become something else entirely.

I feel like this gives us hints to how she was like during her oldwalker days - we only seen her earliest ascension days and her post-mending, where she was at her most humble (the mending does that of course), we've never really seen how she was like at the "peak" of her power (which would be considered a joke to Nahiri, who's considered a joke to Sorin, and then to Ugin...), but I suppose considering how much more broken the base powers of an oldwalker was, Liliana certainly looked like the kind who would abuse it to no end (considering her eagerness and reflex to use a drawback-ridden Chain Veil...)
I don't think she's becoming something else entirely, she's almost reverting back to her old self just because she experienced "power" (or more of dominance) like she had in the past (without drawback, so the Veil doesn't count). Then it hit her that is wasn't her power alone that made it possible. For someone who was trying to be subtle about manipulating her "friends", she sure blew that cover fast... (okay maybe Razaketh's mind control had an effect to some degree, but still...)
I was disappointed that after such an amazing introduction of Razaketh, and with great art in the last article, Razaketh was dealt with so early in just one story. Last week's story gave me a thrill and made Razaketh look super powerful. Then just like that, it's over. By all means, kill the demon, but I would have liked to have experienced him more.
Hopefully the follow up stories give me a thrill once more. So far so good, as far as writing for HoD.
I'm sure I'm not the first one to make this prediction, but I believe that as her world is falling apart around her, Samut will see her friend Djeru killed (perhaps by Bolas), and thats what will make her spark and planeswalk out of there.
Looks like the "heroes" hadn't quite comprehended that Liliana is well... a psychopathic mass murderer.
Which really shows how little they know her. Even Jace.
She's got an oldwalker's mind trapped in a neowalker's body - the only other PW we know like that is Bolas himself, and he's not exactly the most sane either. In point of fact, NONE of the oldwalkers were actually pictures of sanity, they were all more or less immortal gods that could do as they pleased without fear of death or consequences. Liliana, despite being intricately involved with death and undeath, is completely terrified of dying herself after what happened with her brother. She took out the demonic contract in the first place to prevent herself from dying. Truthfully, her key drive is control over herself. She refuses even death's control over her, she bristles at the control of the Raven Man and the Veil, and she is trying to regain her control over her soul from the demons she bartered it to.
I don't think she's a "Psychopathic Mass Murderer", I think she's terrified (albeit only inwardly) of the mistakes she's made in her past - her brother, the contract, the veil, etc - mistakes that she made to try and assert her control but only managed to control her, and she's now she's finally breaking free of them. Add to that the fact that remembers being an oldwalker and HAVING all that control and then losing it, and she becomes even more obsessive and fearful of losing more.
Lili's a sociopath with delusions of grandeur and a massive fear f death, sure, but not a psychopathic mass murderer.
I'm satisfied with the amount of effort it took to kill Razaketh, but I agree with others that it was a little too soon. Even shifting it to the third story would have been better, but maybe they just have so much story and so few articles to tell it with.

Oh, I have no doubt the Hour of Promise will deliver. And we have already spoilers confirming the Hour of Glory will go down somewhat as foretold.
