"Terror falls from the skies on blood-spattered wings, and nameless horrors lurk in the shadows. These pages, lavishly illustrated with the award-winning art of Magic: The Gathering, are your entry into a world beset by terrible evils on all sides and betrayed by the hope it held most dear. Tread lightly as you follow the heroic Planeswalkers of the Gatewatch as they investigate these dark mysteries, for the nightmare they will uncover is a threat to the whole Multiverse."
It did, but that could also be Nahiri, despite her vendetta. I mean, a terrorist cell might just be using one bomb on Innistrad, but they could have more bombs for other planes, if you know what I mean.
Well, you might be technically correct but I somehow doubt that Nahiri, the Harbinger can really be thought of as a "nightmare" (she's not that scary!), or something that threatens the "whole multiverse" (that's a lot of planes!), nor something that really requires much "uncovering" (she's being pretty in-your-face about it!). Hell, you'd be more correct in saying that we went to Theros and "uncovered a nightmare that is a threat to the whole Multiverse" in Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver and Xenagos, God of Revels, both of whom are significantly scarier than Nahiri and possibly stronger to boot.
That is so very cool. Angel of Flight Alabaster is still one of my favourite MTG arts, and was a shoo-in when I made a casual, largely-Innistrad Spirits deck, just so I could look at it again while I was playing I knew Angel of Finality was meant to be her again, but I hadn't made the connection to the new pair of Flameblade and Clip Wings. That said, it'll be the Cynthia Sheppard Flameblade I use in my equally casual Cynthia Sheppard BR deck (along with the intro-pack Markov Dreadknight)

I know a lot of people who do not want to see Eldrazi again so soon and would call stupid to have two blocks back to back with those stuff. Also Marit Lage is not an unknown force that they pulled from their ashes, but something from the pre-mending lore.
Marit Lage's pre-mending lore is two cards and and three flavor texts, one saying she's been gone for generations but people still feel some influence and the other stating that she's dead and dreaming. Both cards are color hosers, none of them have anything to do with corruption.

Cyme we inne frið, fram the grip of deaþ to lif inne ðis smylte land.
I don't think it makes any sense that she would be summoning emrakul. There was no mention of her on zendikar when the eldrazi were released nor when they were destroyed. So she probably doesn't know they were released, so why would she summon emrakul? If she knew they were released why didn't she stay on zendikar to fight them. It does fit her color to run away and leave everyone to die just to get revenge on Sorin. So it is probably not Emrakul but something ancient on Innistrad, maybe an old god. I say it's magic's version of Dagon or cthullu.
Emrakul is the most powerful of the Eldrazi titans, the titan of "Corruption." From the Wiki:
"She causes silent terror wherever she soars, embodying desolation, emotional and physical distance, the chill of the void, and the terror of being alone."
Doesn't that sound exactly like the type of being who could corrupt and manipulate a planeswalker who regrets having helped Sorin because of something unspeakable Sorin ended up doing? Maybe to people close to her? Emrakul corrupting Nahiri ala Galatus / Silver Surfer makes perfect sense. Eldrazi break out, and Nahiri knows because she designed the trap in the first place. She either goes to Zendikar or somehow otherwise gets in touch with the plane, and Emrakul, knowing what she is, is able to convince / corrupt / pervert her anger and other emotion against Sorin to its own ends. Emrakul leaves Zendikar (maybe with Nihiri's assistance) while she plans her vengence. So, she's not around when Sorin wakes up Ugin and tries to fix the problem on Zendikar.
She's now ripping crap up in Sorin's backyard as a white RED walker (i.e. emotional overload). She's a Harbinger, i.e. a herald for someone else. The next set is called "Eldritch Moon," and there's no one more Eldritch than Emrakul. (Sorry, Marit Lage). Her ultimate does not just get artifact creatures, but ANY colorless creature; like an Eldrazi. Avacyn is not imprisioned in a stone matrix, like you would expect from Nahiri, but instead corrupted and distorted, something much more in line with Emrakul's power.
Everything is set up too perfectly. She's working for Emrakul now. And, perhaps, Emrakul has learned about the danger Nahiri and maybe even the other Planeswalkers face, in her own Eldrazi-brain way, and is using Nahiri to protect itself.
EDIT: And let's not forget the worm-piles that represent clues in some of the cards for Shadows; looks like like Emrakul's corruption.
Nice speculation there. Nahiri's ultimate does summon something... and that something could be an Eldrazi like Emrakul.
She wants Innistrad to experience the same thing as what happened to Zendikar.
Just got a look at a larger blown up version of Odric's art. He seems to be looking at the Avacyn symbol on his sword with a wary questioning look. I'm pretty sure he'll start out serving Avacyn's inquisition but go on to defect from them later

That aside, how'd they manage to build that thing? Just eyeballing it it's almost 10 meters tall!
And why do they think it will protect them from angels?
Moreover I thought we were getting new Chronicles on a roughly "real time" schedule. There's no way they built a wall around the entire province in a week. Is Nahiri helping them?

Yeah that part cracked me up. Maybe the wall has defender and Reach.
Sooooo this might be a dumb question but is that Nahiri on the left making the rock of the wall turn all coily and flowing? Or is that just how the wall is built and the lady on the left is a rando?

Given the way the archers are pointing at her, it might be the vampire from the German story.
Regarding Emrakul, has anyone thought about the significance of the fact that her incarnation on Zendikar was an angel?

Ah Hanweir. Because, you know, building enormous walls has always been a sane policy...
There is a delightful 'Merry Men of Gotham' tone to all this. In those tales (from Tudor times) the men of Gotham wanted to stop a cuckoo escaping from a bush, so they planted a hedge around it. When the bird inevitably flew away, they bemoaned that they should have built the hedge higher. Somehow, the town of Hanweir building a wall that won't stop angels getting in, but will certainly stop humans being able to leave doesn't sound like a plan that will end well.
Incidentally, that woodcut art was printed on one of the pages that was sent with Oliver Hayfield's letters and the pearl necklace to the German MtG people, and depicts the lone, maddened vampire standing outside the walls.
We're gonna make Hanweir great again, okay. That I can tell you. We're doin it. People ask me all the time they say, "How are you gonna do it?" And we're doin it. I mean... would you look at that guys hat? What a fantastic hat.

They still can invoke the Origins Mending on her if ever. As they have mentioned, they are not above Retconning for the sake of "COOL." To be able to include Marit Lage in the current continuity would get them probably accolades "for being in touch" with their past lore!

This makes me question Innistrad come Eldritch Moon, IIRC it was through Avacyn that the wards are being empowered (and not through the Angels as a whole), with her TOTALLY gone, will the plane descend to a more sinister condition than Dark Ascension?
