Please support the creation of characters like Niv-Mizzet by purchasing the books! If you can't afford them, please consider borrowing them from your local library so that they know they should continue to buy them and stock them.

No such e-book exists, James. We do have the wiki here on MtGS that you could reference. If you have specific questions, there are those here familiar with the Ravnica storyline who'd be glad to help (I am unfamiliar with that aspect of continuity).
Brady--glad to see you're around! As for support--my copy of Agents of Artifice is in the mail. I have not read a Magic novel since the second Kamigawa book (I did browse through Time Spiral), so I am looking forward to re-entering the multiverse (I do feel that I have been away and that it is detrimental to my roots in fantasy--yes, I can trace my interest in fantasy to Magic).

Yeah, being unable to ever get the card also makes me feel upset. Hopefully the next 'walker promos are going to be available worldwide. Are they, Brady?
I'm not crazy about the way they've chosen to do this promotion. I'm talking to the books marketing folks but I don't have an answer for you yet. Doing a promotion like this worldwide, across all retail venues, is logistically very, very challenging (as in "let's just not bother" challenging). I'm pushing on it, though.
Do you know how expensive the shipping would be? I was trying to find it out, and it turned out it would cost more than the book itself .
I don't know exactly where you live, so I just picked a random central-European country. I just wanted to be sure that EU residents could, in fact, get it. "Too expensive" is different than "unavailable."

Czech Republic and Poland.
I cannot disagree with you, Mr. Dommermuth. Yes, we can (get it). But you must admit that the new policy did not make it easier for us. For us, to order a single copy of AoA from Amazon means to pay approx. the same price as for the whole Fat Pack in a normal store. And that quite hurts the wallet.
I am trying to persuade some of our prime MTG shops, as well as the official distributor, to order some MTG novels for the storyline buffs here. But the success is not granted.

Don't mean to push all the blame on Brady but I'm in the exact same situation too, Amazon is not a reasonable option for me, and as much as I've tried with my local store, they haven't even brought me MWSNBNPW's Guide to Alara yet.
Incidentally, if you buy it from Amazon in the US, it only saves you maybe a dollar after the added fees ($1 per book, and shipping). If you're in the US, might be better just to pick it up at B&N.
Brady, I'm now in love with Amazon's "Search Inside" feature that you pointed out ten thousand years ago on the WotC boards, but I just noticed it like a week ago when looking through old threads. Is there a possibility of getting it enabled for newer books? I think The Fifth Dawn was the last book to have this functionality. Or is it a matter of not wanting newer books to be searchable? That's understandable.

I don't know who controls that feature. It's likely our distributor; it's not us. I think it's probably automatic after a certain amount of time after the release date.

Why can't you just include the promo card in every copy of the novel?
Because of fraud and theft. The publishing industry is set up so that retailers can return their unsold books to the distributor for a 100% refund, even many months after release. If you put the card in the book, customers swipe the card without buying the book, then other customers refuse to buy those books without the card in them, then the retailer returns them and we lose money. Every other solution either invites fraud (such as counting on the retailer to give them out at the cash register -- many would just e-bay them instead) or is too expensive (such as mailing a card to each person who sends in proof of purchase).
Another question i'd like to ask is this, are all MTG novels goign to be hardcover like Agents of Artifice from now on? or maybe just planeswalker novels?
Alara Unbroken is softcover, and the regular Magic book price that we've seen for the last ten years. The Chandra book (Purifying Fire or whatever it's called) is hardcover, but it's $15 compared to AoA's $25.
Still don't understand the logic behind the price increase.

Couldn't that be solved with packaging? If you have the books wrapped in plastic and the cards inside this shouldn't be a problem. I don't know the logistics of that, but it's pretty much what most magazines or newspapers do when they have some extra product to go with them.
Shrink-wrapping adds a significant cost (monetarily and, it's worth mentioning, environmentally) and doesn't really solve the problem as much as you might think. If the card is sought after, people will rip the plastic and take it. The retailer can still return the books for a full refund if the shrink-wrap is ripped.
(As an aside, you'll notice that magazines and newspapers are dropping like flies. The whole print-media industry is struggling.)
are all MTG novels goign to be hardcover like Agents of Artifice from now on?
No. Agents of Artifice is hardcover (at first) for several reasons, one of which is that we wanted to send a message to readers -- and more importantly, to bookstores! -- that this isn't just another set-based novel to stock in the lower corner of the fantasy/sci-fi section. We're trying to do something new here, and we want it to really stand out.
I know that those who follow Magic books already know it's something new and not all of you value a hardcover edition. But we're looking to attract the attention of more readers than those we already have.
By jacking the prices up? I mean, I know there's a certain air of "prestige" for hardcover books ("It's hardcover, it's gonna be good!"), but I would think that's offset by the number of readers who aren't going to pick it up because it's thrice the usual price. I know you guys are really trying something new here--and I commend you for it 100%. I'm just not so sure that asking more money for what's essentially the same page count and quality we're used to getting (not making a negative comment here, perhaps "quality" isn't the best word--but "the stories we're used to").
I suppose there is something to be said about the physical location that bookstores are going to use. They generally put hardbacks on the top shelf where they'll get more attention. But then again B&N usually ends up selling their hardbacks off after a few months at discounts just to get rid of them.
Brady, can you tell us anything about the upcoming Artifacts Cycle omnibuses?

By any chance are you able to divulge the status of Niv-Mizzet, as that was never explained in the books?
Thank you, my good sir, for all that you do for us storyline buffs. Here's hoping you have the power to reveal a bit about an open-ended plotline.
