Can you sacrifice a creature that was in your control, but is now in exile? I was reading through the rules and there's nothing on this at all.
My 2nd question is, creatures that have something like: "When "xxxx" attacks he gains +1/+1 until the end of its turn. When I guarding with that selected creature, would that trigger its ability? Or are attacking and guarding 2 completely separate things.
Sorry I'm like brand new to MTG and still learning.

I am so sorry but I can't understand this question. More detail about the case/scenario please.
For the Principle , player can sacrifice only a permanent he/she control. And a permanent mean card/token on the battlefield.

An ability that says "When/Whenever {this creature} attack,{effect}" will trigger when you declare this creature as your attacker in Declare attacker step. This step comes before Declare blocker step.
So just declaring as an attacker is enough for the ability to trigger.

Attacking and blocking are two distinct actions. Abilities that trigger on attacking will not trigger on blocking and vice versa.
It told me you can only sacrifice permanents, and a permanent is only what's on the battlefield. So that makes a ton of sense, thank you all a ton.
