Hi all, I was playing a match with a friend and I had a Insolent Neonate on the field, then attached a Skin Invasion to it. I wasn't quite sure whether I could do the following-
Yes you can. After you finish activating Insolent Neonate's ability, Skin Invasion will be put into your graveyard (C.R. 704.5n) and two triggered abilities will wait to go on the stack: madness and Skin Invasion's ability. You can put both in any order (because you control both) (C.R. 603.3b). If you put the madness ability first, then the Skin Invasion ability, the Skin Invasion ability will resolve first and return it to the battlefield transformed (not: flipped) as Skin Shedder. Then when madness resolves, you can cast Senseless Rage for its madness cost targeting Skin Shedder.
I had a similar but more complicated issue, If I have a Ravenous Bloodseeker with an opponents Skin Invasion, On my turn can I discard a Biting Rain madness it, then in response to that spell discard Fiery Temper killing my Bloodseeker (from its own ability), and then madness the Fiery Temper targeting the transformed Skin Shedder that comes back.
I think I can do this in my turn but not in his due to triggering order.
right, so the madness trigger will always be above the Bloodseeker's ability on the stack. ok
so would have needed an extra 2 cards in hand to kill the skin shedder as well (i only had 4 mana and very low life and he had several other creatures dying to biting rain.)
Correct. Ravenous Bloodseeker and Insolent Neonate's activation costs include discarding a card. And discarding a card with madness will trigger madness, which will resolve before the activated ability.
In general, if an ability triggers as you pay the cost for an activated ability, that triggered ability will be put on the stack on top of the activated ability and will resolve before that activated ability.

Sacrifice Insolent Neonate and discard a Senseless Rage, pay it's Madness cost and attach it to the now flipped Skin Invasion/Skin Shedder?
We eventually figured that it wasn't possible but I just want to double check. Cheers
