what happens when i select something with Circle of Protection: Red,
and then the red source does moves to another Zone before it deals damage?
like if the owner does counter it with Remand to cast it again this turn?
is the damage still prevented?
609.7a specially says something about permanent spell
If the player chooses a permanent spell, the effect will apply to any damage dealt by that spell and any damage dealt by the permanent that spell becomes when it resolves.
but what happen to that permanent spell source when it does move to something else than the battlefield, will the damage still be prevented?
(same with above, maybe its bounced)
means:
non permanent spell: when it moves zone, the effect goes away (or it doesn't work anymore)
permanent spell: when it moves zone to another zone than the battlefield (from the stack), the effect goes away (or it doesn't work anymore)
yea i know how the Circle of Protection works with selecting a damage source.
my question was more what makes the Effect which is already hanging think about the object as a new one.
i am currently reworking the cards for Forge, and currently is there no check for it so i asked how it should be.
so from zone != battlefield to zone != battlefield = new object and doesn't work
is that the short working way or do i need to look out for other special cases?
in another forum where i asked the question someone did mention Grim Lavamancer.
if i use a prevention effect on him while his effect is already on the stack and then i remove him from the battlefield,
does that have consequences for the Prevention Effect? (the effect of CoP already resolved before i removed him from the battlefield)
the user did say something about LKI ... but i currently don't know how to apply them :/
@Thorgor: thanks for helping me, with pointing out the special rules.
i didn't manage to fix the problem in Forge yet but i will put it on my to do list.
(i might do trigger if the Spell does enter the Stack, then it should be a new object from the one which was remembered)
such special cases like:
Csst Spell + Prevent Effect + Remand and Cast Spell again in the same turn might be not that often that its a high priority issue.
