I was playing a game the other day where my opponent flashed in Archangel Avacyn during my combat to block. I had Reduce to Ashes for the kill, but I wasn't sure if it would work while she was indestructible so I waited until the following turn. Would Reduce to Ashes exile an indestructible Avacyn?
No it would not. The exile effect is a replacement effect for when a creature actually dies. Indestructible prevents a creature from dying from damage. If however avacyn did die (languish on the same turn), the replacement effect would take place, and avacyn would be exiled
Note that when that Avacyn enters the field, she's not immediately indestructible and can be killed before her ETB trigger resolves. (But everything else will still end up indestructible.)
