So, this question is assuming the speculation (maybe confirmed? that <> is the new symbol for colorless mana and <> in costs can only be paid specifically with colored mana.
Mana that would be produced that isn't in your general's color identity is absolutely colorless, right? Therefore, if my general is Azusa, Lost but Seeking and I try to tap my City of Brass or Vivid Grove for red, I create a colorless mana that can then be used to meet <> costs, yes? So theoretically I could use Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to make all of my lands capable of tapping for <>.
Also a minor clarification on Reflecting Pool: since it says "one mana of any type" and not "one mana of any color," it can add colorless mana assuming I have a colorless producing land, correct?

As far as I'm aware, you are correct on all accounts.
EDIT: Assuming that <> is the new symbol for colorless mana (which I think it pretty much is guaranteed to be based on the mystic gate expedition that was leaked, assuming that isn't fake)
We don't know yet because CI is a product of the rules committee. I would think you are correct, but until they make an official ruling any guess is just that.
If people are sick of reading about stuff just stop taking part. You have 100% control over what you read. Simic Ascendancy isn't going to get banned just because you didn't tell someone to shut up on the internet.

Sgould work out. When trying to get off-coloured mana a replacement effect makes it coloyrless instead. And as they said on the kozilek spoiling during worlds it is simply a new colourless mana symbol

Stuff like this really makes me hate the EDH color identity rules. Only in EDH can you use City of Brass to generate colorless mana to pay for the <> cost of Kozilek, the Great Distortion. The rules committee really needs to start getting more in sync with Magic.
