If I cast Commandeer or Desertion on an opponent's spell that would normally resolve into a permanent, I gain control of it. If that player leaves the game for any reason, is the permanent exiled, per 804.a in the Comprehensive Rules?
The Comprehensive Rules mention Bribery, so I just wanted to confirm that 804.a applies to these other cards.
800.4a When a player leaves the game, all objects (see rule 109) owned by that player leave the
game and any effects which give that player control of any objects or players end. Then, if that
player controlled any objects on the stack not represented by cards, those objects cease to exist.
Then, if there are any objects still controlled by that player, those objects are exiled. This is not
a state-based action. It happens as soon as the player leaves the game. If the player who left the
game had priority at the time he or she left, priority passes to the next player in turn order who’s
still in the game.
Whenever a player leaves the game, all objects owned by that player leave the game, regardless of controller. Bribery doesn't have anything to do with it.
Bribery (and the above effects, and Reanimate effects) only matter if the player doing the Bribing leaves the game. In that case, those cards are also exiled. This is an important distinction, because effects like Control Magic and Blatant Thievery end and return the cards they stole to their owners, but if an effect put another player's card directly into play under that player's control, those cards are exiled when that player leaves the game.

Oops, I think I am dyslexic! I meant to say that if *I* left the game, does that comply with 800.4. From these two response, it sounds like it does. Thanks!
When you leave the game these things happen:
1. All cards you own are exiled - regardless of who controls them or where they are in the game. This will result in the returning of permanents controlled by objects you own, eg. mind control, sower of temptation. It will also return cards held under effects such as banishing light, but not effects such as oblivion ring due to the difference in templating.
2. All effects which give you control of another players permanents end - this relates to effects like act of treason and blatant thievery, they are effects which have taken control of something which had previously been controlled by someone else and are returned to their owners.
3. All spells and abilities you control on the stack are exiled - note this will only be things you don't own as all spells you own have already been taken care of in part 1
4. Any permanents you still control are exiled - This will be things like creatures taken from reanimate effects, bribery or desertion. These effects took control of an object which was never controlled by the owner and as such are not returned to their owners control. They will be placed in their owners exile zone.

Not quite. When you leave the game, cards you own also leave the game. They aren't exiled. I don't know that there are any cards that it might be relevant to, but I thought I'd make the distinction.
Its relevant for stuff like Duplicant. If the cards were just exiled, Duplicant would remember whats imprinted on it(since the card would still be in exile).

Yes, good point, removed from the game (exiled) and leaves the game are distinct.

Likewise, the same question applies for Gather Specimens.

Something is only exiled under 800.4a if the player who has left the game is the one who has stolen the permanent using something like commandeer etc.
