During a match of EDH - the opponent has a Contamination out.
On my turn, i play a Gauntlet of Power and call blue, am i then allowed to play an Aetherplasm (anything, really) due to getting the blue from GoP or does Contamination nullify that mana too?
I'm under the impression that mana generated as an effect of the GoP ability comes from the Gauntlet itself, not the land, thus allowing me to generate BU for each island i tap.
So - we're stuck. What happens?

Tantarus: It didn't make the gaka greifer level, so it should be fine
Gauntlet never triggers, because the Island is being tapped for B, not U. Replacement effects are taken into account when determining what a permanent can tap or is tapping to produce.
106.7. Some abilities produce mana based on the type of mana another permanent or permanents "could produce." The type of mana a permanent could produce at any time includes any type of mana that an ability of that permanent would produce if the ability were to resolve at that time, taking into account any applicable replacement effects in any possible order. Ignore whether any costs of the ability could or could not be paid. If that permanent wouldn't produce any mana under these conditions, or no type of mana can be defined this way, there's no type of mana it could produce. Example: Exotic Orchard has the ability "{T}: Add to your mana pool one mana of any color that a land an opponent controls could produce." If your opponent controls no lands, activating Exotic Orchard's mana ability will produce no mana. The same is true if you and your opponent each control no lands other than Exotic Orchards. However, if you control a Forest and an Exotic Orchard, and your opponent controls an Exotic Orchard, then each Exotic Orchard could produce {G}.
I just finished playing a game on MTGO where I had Contamination out and the opponent played Caged Sun. They were playing mono blue and now were generating blue mana. The "ORC"s said this was correct and linked to http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=5768 to read the rules where it says;
10/4/2004 The second ability of this card is a replacement effect, not a triggered ability. 10/4/2004 External effects that generate more mana still generate their additional mana as directed without being affected by this card. Effects which generate more mana based on what type of mana the land produces will be affected in color but not in amount.
10/4/2004 You choose whether to sacrifice a creature or not on resolution. If not, then you sacrifice Contamination. You can choose to not sacrifice even if you no longer control Contamination on resolution.
So... which is it? Or does Caged Sun and Gauntlet of Power just work differently?
If you knew that necroing is bad, why did you do it anyway? You should have made a new thread for this new question. -Carsten
Caged Sun triggers when the mana is produced, so it shouldn't work that way. Since Blue mana isn't produced, it shouldn't be triggering.
Gauntlet of Power is a bit more confusing, because the wording makes it sounds like it's triggering from the ability being activated, which makes it hard for me to figure the interaction out. I'm not sure if the wording makes it functionally the same as Sun in this situation.

Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.

I'm fairly certain this is wrong, particularly since MTGO isn't 100% on EDH color-producing rules. (For example, non-white decks can cast colored spells when someone Donates a Celestial Dawn to them, but that's not the correct interaction.)
