It was my understanding that if a card had in its mana cost, when you use snapcaster mage on it, :xmana:=:0mana:. Can anyone clarify this?
The way in which Snapcaster Mage is worded (flashback cost is equal to its mana cost) means that the cost for Red Sun Zenith would be XR, whereas it's converted mana cost in the graveyard is just 1 (due to X being counted as a zero in that circumstance).
'The flashback cost is equal to its mana cost.'
Does this mean you can flashback spells for CMC/colorless, rather than to their normal color requirements?
For example, do you flashback Dissipate for 3, rather than 1UU?
Please use card tags for all cards that are relevant to your question. -Carsten
the flashback cost is exactly equal to the normal mana cost. not CMC, but normal mana cost
dissipate would cost 1UU
red sun zenith would be XR (you can choose X)
dismember would be 1:sympb::sympb:
cool, thanks.

A card's converted mana cost is basically the colorless conversion of the card's mana cost.
Both of these are explicitly stated when a card refers to this:
