Ok. I've been trying to look this up and I can't. But i really need an explanation. haha.
Ok.
If i have a creature with Firststrike and Deathtouch (such as Glissa) and it does battle with an opponent's creature that only has deathtouch, what the hell happens?
Does Glissa kill the other creature and survive?
Is the opponent's creature's ability cancelled out because Glissa hit the opposing creature first? Therefore, deathtouch is cancelled on the other creature's end?
Do both creature's die regardless?
Even though Glissa has firststrike, she still TOUCHED the other creature in battle that has deathtouch since the other creature blocked Glissa's strike?
Because with deathtouch, a creature with the ability can block an attacker and kill it because the attacking monster essentially attacked the creature with deathtouch.
Someone please straighten this one out for me.
Thanks
-Robert
Glissa deals lethal damage in the first strike damage step. The creature is destroyed.
The game proceeds to the normal damage step. The other creature is no longer on the battlefield, therefore it never deals combat damage, therefore its deathtouch is irrelevant.

Glissa will deal damage to the other creature during the first-strike combat damage step. Then, when a player would get priority in that step, the creature will be destroyed as a state-based action (due to having taken damage from a source with deathtouch). By the time the second combat-damage step rolls around (in which creatures without first strike would deal damage), that creature will be long gone, so it will never have a chance to deal any damage to Glissa.
First Strike combat damage and normal combat damage resolve separately; therefore any abilities triggered from dealing combat damage resolve on separate 'stacks' if you will; So Glissa, having first strike, deals damage to say Acidic Slime. This puts the Deathtouch ability on the stack. And before the Acidic Slime can deal damage to Glissa. Glissa's Deathtouch will resolve, killing Acidic Slime.
So to answer your question; a First Strike Deathtoucher will emerge from battle unscathed against a regular Deathstriker.
Deathtouch + First Strike wins against just Deathtouch. The creature with just Deathtouch will die as soon as first strike damage is dealt, and will not deal any damage to the creature that has first strike.
Do both creature's die regardless?

You know I never really thought about it like that. Technically OP is right, she did touch a deathtoucher LOL. But to answer your question the above posters are right, first strike always takes priority, now if the creature had first strike as well, or double strike they would both die.

Just so you know, the rules changed with M10. Damage no longer uses the stack or resolves, and deathtouch is not a triggered abiity, but a static one (as is lifelink). The stack is not involved. It's worth pointing out even though in this case the result is the same.

Lightning Bolts don't kill creatures. State-based actions kill creatures.
