I'm new to magic(only been playing for about a month and a half) so excuse me if this is a really noobie question... If a creature has protection from all colours given to them by for instance Favor of the Mighty will Wrath of God, Firespout and cards similiar to that destroy the creature?? Also can planeswalker abilities target creatures with protection for example can you use Chandra Nalaar's -x ability on a creature that has protection from red?? Thanks for the help
Protection will not protect them from Wrath of God, but it will protect them from Firespout. Protection really means 4 things: Cannot be targetted by, Cannot be dealt damage by, Cannot be blocked by, and Cannot be enchanted by cards of the color the creature has protection from. Wrath of God is doing none of those 4 things, so it will destroy a creature that has protection from White. Firespout is trying to deal damage, so it will not destroy a creature with protection from Red/Green.
No, you may not. Chandraa's ability targets, and that is one of the things protection protects from:)
Protection basically reduces all damage from the given colour to 0. Makes it so that creatures of that colour can't block the creature with protection (You could still block them) and makes it so that the creature can't be targeted by spells or abilities of that colour.
However, Wrath doesn't target and it's not trying to kill by damage either. Wrath would indeed kill a creature with protection from white.
Firespout though, wouldn't kill a creature from protection red since it's damage.
Sorry I worded that poorly, I've been up all night.
So I take it then that Shriekmaw will then also destroy a creature with protection? And if the creature is indestructible? Will it then be destroyed by wrath? Which one will make that the creature cannot be destroyed? Or do I have to use both to make sure that it can't be destoyed at all?
Shriekmaw targets. A creature with protection from black can't be the target of black spells or abilities, therefore Shriekmaw can't kill it.
A indestructible creature doesn't die:
1. If it's targeted by a spell or ability that says "Destroy", or by a global effect that destroys, like Wrath of God ( none of these will kill the indestructible creature )
2. If it has lethal damage on ( Say a 3/3 that's the target of Incinerate, it just won't die. It will remain in play. )
A indestructible creature can be put in a graveyard if it's toughness becomes 0, like with Nameless Inversion or -1/-1 counters.
Ok and if a creature doesn't have protection or isn't indestructible but it has regenerate will a ability or spell kill it or how do I activate it's regeneration ability? Also when must I activate it so that the creature is not destroyed? I'm sorry for all the stupid questions but like I said I'm new to the game and won't learn anything if I don't ask...

First of all, note that Wrath of God prohibits regeneration.
However, if the creature would be destroyed by an effect that doesn't prohibit regeneration, you have to play the regeneration ability BEFORE that effect resolves. The latest possible moment to do this would be in response to the spell/ability/combat damage that would destroy or deal lethal damage to your creature.

Awesome thanks guys. Just want to make a quick recap... Protection means that the creature can't be the target of a spell or ability from the colour it has protection from but can still be affected by global effects like wrath as where indestructible means it can be detroyed except by it's toughness becoming zero through wither or something similiar. Am I right with these conclusions?

You've got the basic ideas, but I'd like to point out a few inaccuracies lest they be taken out of context and misconstrued.
1. Protection from <quality> means the following things:
D) Damage that would be dealt to the protected creature or player by spells with the stated quality or abilities from sources with the stated quality is prevented.
E) The protected creature or player can't be enchanted/equipped/fortified by auras/equipment/fortifications with the stated quality.
B) The protected creature can't be blocked by creatures with the stated quality.
T) The protected creature or player can't be the target of spells with the stated quality or abilities from sources with the stated quality.
You made it sound like protection only included the "T" aspect.
2. Indestructible means "can't be destroyed, period." Withering the creature to toughness 0 is not destruction, and that's why it works against an indestructible creature.

Thanks to Spiderboy4 at High~Light Studios for the AMAZING signature.
