Okay I am more than able to be wrong on this, however I think I am right.
There is a dispute that I am having, here is the situation.
6 cards in graveyard, opponent has no way of making that number smaller.
I am in control of 1 nimble mongoose, and enough lands/colors to play pyroclasm. In my mind I play pyroclasm, the spell is announced, I pay all costs for it (1R) put it on the stack. I then pass priority, he passes priority. Pyroclasm takes effect, 2 damage to all creatures, then is put in the graveyard. At this point State Based Effects are checked, Mongoose has 2 damage on it, but pyroclasm makes the 7th card and his toughness is 3.
He says that Mongoose dies before Pyroclasm goes to the graveyard. Who is correct?

Asking people to remove quotes in their signatures is tyranny! If I can't say something just because someone's feelings are hurt then no one would ever be able to say anything! Political correctness is stupid.
