This is the first time I've come to ask a question I couldn't find an answer to through an online search. Please tell me what you think happens in this situation. I have a Simulacrum Synthesizer in play and I play Copy Artifact to copy any artifact with a mana cost of 3 or greater. Do I get the Construct token or does the Synthesizer see the CMC as only 2 for the Copy Artifact? As far as I understand, the copy is seen as a direct copy of the card and includes the CMC so I would get the construct. What are your thought? Thanks!
Copy Artifact creates a replacement effect, replacing the event of it entering the battlefield with it entering as a copy of something else. So it enters as that copy, and all relevant abilities that care about such an event (an object with the copied characteristic entering) will trigger accordingly. In short, if your enchantment enters as a copy of the Synthesizer or any other artifact with mana value 3 or more, the Synthesizer will trigger and make a construct token.
