With the release of the new UN set a friend of mine asked a question I'm not quite sure the answer to so I was hoping to get some clarification.
Do the new creature types introduced in Unfinity count towards a Coat of Arms effect for changelings or do only the ones without an acorn count towards the total?
None of the Unglued or Unhinged creature types were changed. I couldn't change them even if I wanted to, since those cards don't exist in Oracle! However, all creature types specific to Un- cards are being eliminated from the Comprehensive Rules list. In the land of silver bordered cards, fractions are legal numbers—but this is specifically prohibited by the Comp Rules. When playing with Un- cards, pink, brown, and hazel are legit colors—but they're not listed in the Comp Rules. So why are creature types like Gus, Paratrooper, and Donkey in the Comp Rules? As of the Lorwyn update, they're not.
A lot of the weird ones don't count then, but a lot of the Unfinity creatures do have valid creature types. It That Came from Planet Glurg is an Ooze, even if Alien is acorn, but Ticking Mime Bomb is all acorn, and technically has no valid types for Changeling + Coat of Arms. But if you're playing with acorn cards to begin with, it seems odd to go all technical on creature types at that point.
Also, going to mention this just because you asked about the Total number of types: 2 Changelings + Coat of Arms does not make a giant creature. Coat of Arms counts the number of creatures that share "at least one type" not the number of types shared.
To be honest the coat of arms was inconsequential, I used it to reference what creature types it would see. My buddy runs tribal squirrels and uses a maskwood nexus and infinite tokens. He enjoys calculating the exact damage he does so the number of creature types matters for his calculations lol
What cards is he using that the entire number of creature types matter?
I brought up the Coat of Arms thing in case its being played incorrectly. If he has Coat of Arms and just 2 changelings, they each just get +1/+1, even though they share ~264 creature types. If he has 100 changelings, Coat gives them each +99/+99. In neither case does the total number of available types matter.
I'm just confused as to which cards it does matter on.
Awesome. I figured there would be something, but was generally confused. Sorry to over-explain Coat.
Also thanks @MadMageQc for fixing that, I couldn't figure that out and just decided to leave it. However, while your correction works, it isn't the actual name printed on the card, there is no "That". I ultimately just copied it direct from gatherer into the card tags, not sure what is causing that disconnect.

Embiggen? However, that spell can target only a non-Brushwagg creature (and Brushwagg is a creature type [C.R. 203.5m]) — but apparently it's possible for a creature to have all creature types except Brushwagg.
