When a card like Morbid opportunist states "This ability triggers only once each turn", does that apply to each opportunist which creates the trigger? To my knowledge there are only ten cards now with this "once per turn" limiting stipulation on triggering abilities, all are relatively new, and I haven't played against any of them yet, so I just want to make sure I understand clearly.
For example... If I have two morbid opportunists in play, and another creature dies, would I draw two cards (one for each opportunist triggering), or only one card because the second opportunist is not able to trigger since that same ability already triggered that turn from another source which produces the same trigger? I'm just wondering if multiples in play are redundant because they see each other triggering where the first prevents the others, or if the condition/restriction is tied directly to each object independently allowing for multiple copies to each trigger once per turn.
The restriction "This ability triggers only once each turn" applies only to the triggered ability where that restriction appears. It doesn't apply to other triggered abilities, even if they have the same text as that ability. See also C.R. 113.2c. (A similar principle applies to activated abilities that say "Activate only once each turn"; see also this thread.)
Cool, thanks. That's what I wanted to hear read.
I like this card and think perhaps the art or flavor threw me off into thinking "If the first opportunist loots the corpse/victim right after the moment of death, why would there be any loot of value (cards) left for other opportunists nearby who get there shortly thereafter?" lol
Rules question with Morbid Opportunist
Can you draw card (does it trigger) when:
1) If opponent kills Morbid Opportunist (like with a kill spell).
2) If Morbid Opportunist and other creature dies (like trades in a combat, or with a sweeper like Burn Down the House).
Thanks!
Morbid Opportunist's ability won't trigger if Morbid Opportunist itself dies (unless it dies at the same time as one or more other creatures, in which case the ability will trigger if it didn't do so already this turn) (C.R. 603.6c, 603.10a, 603.10).
I have a question about this card, I don´t understand why the effect doesnt trigger when it dies but in the case of Headless Rider the effect triggers for a creture you control that died at same time with Headless Rider that you also control, so you put 2 skeletons. Why? In the case of Headless Rider the effect seems to trigger for the rest of the creatures that die at same time but for Morbid Opportunist the effect doesnt trigger for itself. Seems like, in the case of Headless Rider, since both creatures died at same time the effect triggers. So this logic send me to another question then, when you have a creture that has the effect: " When another creature dies put a +1/+1 counter on tarjet creature" and it dies at the same time that other creature you control, why then you cant put +1/+1 counters in any creature. This does not look logical at all
Your question seems a little all over the place but if you are wondering why Headless Rider triggers for itself and this doesn't, it is because this says "other". If you are wondering why this doesn't "see" anything that dies along with it....well, it does so I am not sure why you think it doesn't. It just can't trigger for itself dying.

Headless Rider says "Whenever Headless Rider or another nontoken Zombie you control dies, ..."
Morbid Opportunist says "Whenever one or more other creatures die, draw a card. This ability triggers only once each turn."
If Headless Rider dies at the same time as one or more other "nontoken Zombie(s) you control", its ability will trigger not just once for each such Zombie but also once for Headless Rider itself (C.R. 603.3c). This is because the ability watches not just whether other "nontoken Zombie(s) you control" die, but also whether Headless Rider itself dies.
For the same reason, if Headless Rider dies alone, its ability will trigger.
If Morbid Opportunist dies at the same time as one or more other creatures, its ability will trigger only once (C.R. 603.3c, 700.1), and only if the ability didn't already trigger this turn.
If Morbid Opportunist dies alone, its ability won't trigger, even if didn't already trigger this turn.
There is no card with the exact text "Whenever another creature dies, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature" at the time of this writing. However, if Ob Nixilis, Unshackled dies at the same time as one or more other creatures, its last ability will trigger once for each such other creature, but if Ob Nixilis dies alone, that ability won't trigger.

What are we supposed to do with this response? Are you asking a question in your first post or not? Did you have a follow up question to my response or not? There are a lot of people here that are willing to help you understand but you need to communicate where your confusion lies if you want help.
I am guessing peter's more in depth response gave you the answer you needed. If not, just tell us where you are still confused.
