Hi, first time poster and still very much a novice when it come to rules so apologizes if this is a no brainer. I'm curious about how much damage can be absorbed by Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo and the effects of different kinds of damage prevention. Let's say my opponent is attacking with Terra Stomper (Green 8/8 Trample). If I block with Opal Eye it triggers bushido, making it a 2/5. If i pay for damage prevention 3 times does Opal Eye absorb all the damage and none will trample over? If i happen to have a Mother of Runes, and tap it to give Opal Eye protection from green, what happens then? Will I still need to pay to prevent the trample damage. Alternatively if I don't block and use Opal Eye's tapping ability to redirect the damage from an unblocked Terra Stomper, will all the damage be assigned to Opal Eye and negate the trample without having to prevent damage? If I tap Opal Eye, and then Mother of Runes, will all the Terra Stomper's damage be absorbed with zero trample over? That's all. Thanks for the help!
Neither Opal-Eye's last two abilities nor protection change how combat damage is assigned (as trample does [C.R. 702.19]); effects that would affect the damage a creature would deal, such as those of Opal-Eye's last two abilities and protection from green, don't change the amount of combat damage creatures assign (C.R. 510.1c-d apply generally and C.R. 702.19b applies to trample). Therefore, creatures assign combat damage without regard to such effects. See also this thread, this thread, this thread, and this thread.
In your particular scenario, Terra Stomper can assign combat damage to the player or planeswalker it's attacking as soon as lethal damage is assigned to all the creatures blocking Terra Stomper, without regard to prevention or redirection effects such as those found in protection from green or Opal-Eye's last two abilities. (However, due to Opal-Eye's last two abilities, some of the damage assigned to something else may be dealt to Opal-Eye instead of to anything else, and as a result prevented, depending on which effects are active.)
For example:
Assume Opal-Eye's power and toughness are 2/5, Opal-Eye has protection from green, and its last two abilities are active (with Terra Stomper named for Opal-Eye's second-to-last ability). As the combat damage step begins, Terra Stomper can assign 5 damage to Opal-Eye and 3 damage to the player or planeswalker it's attacking. Even so, however, the damage would be dealt to Opal-Eye instead, and thus the damage would be prevented due to protection from green.
Assume Opal-Eye's power and toughness are 2/5, Opal-Eye doesn't have protection from green, and its last ability is active (once). As the combat damage step begins, Terra Stomper can assign 5 damage to Opal-Eye and 3 damage to the player or planeswalker it's attacking. In this case, 5 damage is dealt to that player or planeswalker as normal, and of the 3 damage that would be dealt to Opal-Eye, 1 of that damage is prevented, leaving 2 damage dealt to Opal-Eye.
Assume Opal-Eye's power and toughness are 2/5, Opal-Eye doesn't have protection from green, its last ability is active (once), and its second-to-last ability is active (with Terra Stomper named). As the combat damage step begins, Terra Stomper can assign 5 damage to Opal-Eye and 3 damage to the player or planeswalker it's attacking. In this case, all 8 damage would be dealt to Opal-Eye (instead of to anything else), and of that damage, 1 of that damage is prevented, leaving 7 damage dealt to Opal-Eye.
If I block with Opal Eye it triggers bushido, making it a 1/5. If i pay for damage prevention 3 times does Opal Eye absorb all the damage and none will trample over?
It depends. See above.

For the damage to be "prevented", a prevention effect must generally happen.

Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo Terra Stomper Mother of Runes
For damage prevention vs trample it gets fairly complicated. During the combat damage step your opponent assigns combat damage. They need to assign a minium of damage to be considered lethal, basically equal to the toughness of all blockers. Trample allows them to assign excess damage to the player but they are allowed to assign all damage to the blocking creatures.
If you block with Opal-Eye and activate its own ability 3 times. The attacking player is allowed to assign all 8 damage to Opal-Eye to kill it. Or they can just assign the needed 5 and trample over for 3. Opal-Eye will only take 2 damage but you will take 3.
If instead of blocking you use Opal-Eye's other ability to redirect damage then all damage dealt by the source will be redirected to Opal-Eye. Trample plays no role.
If Opal-Eye has protection from the source of the damage, the damage(whether redirected or from blocking) will be prevented. Though I must point out that if you blocked they only have to assign lethal damage, so even with protection they can trample for 3.
The game doesn't actually care if the damage you assign will kill the creature only that it "should" be lethal either equal to the toughness of the creature or 1 damage from a source with deathtouch.
