Say I have a Chronozoa with 2 time counters and a Volrath, the Shapestealer on my board. Someone casts a destroy spell targeting Volrath, and in response I turn him into a copy of Chronozoa (that is 7/5 with Volrath's ability) then after the spell resolves I redirect him from the graveyard to my command zone. Do I get copies of Chronozoa from my Volrath dieing? Do they enter as 7/5 Chronozoas with Volrath's ability, regular 3/3 illusions, or do they both come in as regular Volrath, as he exists in the command zone, and one dies due to legendary rule?
You will get two 7/5 Chronozoa's with Volrath's shapeshifter ability. Volrath's ability alters their copiable values.
Thanks to the new commander rules you get death triggers from your commander. And such abilities always look at what made them which is the card that existed on the battlefield, not what that specific object is now regardless of where it is.
