If Dark Impostor has 2 counters on it and the opponent casts Giant Killer does it kill it because it has power 4 or it doesn't because it has power 2 and 2 counters on it?
Generally, if Dark Impostor has two +1/+1 counters (not necessarily two counters of just any old kind), its power will be 4, so can be a target of Chop Down (not: Giant Killer). (+1/+1 counters add to power and toughness and -1/-1 counters subtract from power and toughness, but not all kinds of counters affect power and toughness [C.R. 122.1a].)
And Chop Down (not: Giant Killer) can target only a creature with power 4 or greater, and will destroy that target when it resolves only if it's still a "creature with power 4 or greater" (C.R. 608.2b, 115.1a).

In your example, with two +1/+1 counters, the creature's power is 4, and that's what Chop Down sees. Anything that looks at a creature's power looks at its power as modified by counters and by effects, unless it speaks about base power. Same for toughness.
