I've gone over the rules and also the previous thread here, but I didn't see any comments on what happens if a temporary mutated creature is animated as a creature on a later turn.
For all context in my questions, snapdax is only being used to give double-strike to the animated creatures, thus always "under" the lavaclaw reaches, never actually being the face "top" creature. According to the rules, the mutated outcome would still be considered my commander for commander damage.
Now for the question - what happens after the turn ends? What I've read says the permanent keeps the mutated properties, but if snapdax is "under" then lavaclaw reaches would stop being a creature.
Most importantly - would I be able to re-animate the lavaclaw reaches and would it still be considered mutated, with double-strike, and my commander?
If you "mutate" Snapdax under a permanent that's a creature solely due to an effect (such as Lavaclaw Reaches or Orzhov Keyrune), and that effect ends, the permanent will remain merged with Snapdax, and its types will be determined by its topmost component again (so that in the case of Lavaclaw Reaches, it will be a land, and in the case of Orzhov Keyrune, it will be an artifact). This is not to be confused with effects that say a permanent "isn't a creature", such as found in Thassa, Deep-Dwelling.
If you "mutate" Snapdax on top of a permanent that's a creature solely due to an effect (such as Lavaclaw Reaches or Orzhov Keyrune), and that effect ends, the permanent will remain merged with Snapdax, and its types will be determined by its topmost component again (which will be Snapdax so that the permanent will generally be a Dinosaur Cat Nightmare creature).
In both cases, the merged permanent will still have double strike because Snapdax is one of its components and "mutated" with the permanent. If any of its components is a player's commander, the merged permanent is their commander (C.R. 903.3c).
For example, if Snapdax is your commander and you "mutate" Snapdax with Orzhov Keyrune, whether you do so on top of or under Orzhov Keyrune, the resulting permanent will be your commander, even if it stops being a creature. See also this thread.
But if you put Snapdax on TOP, will it lose the lifelink of the Orzhov Keyrune at the end of turn?
Would it be different for vehicles, since the keyword isn't dependent of the state of the permanent?
Thanks a lot!
As the keyrune only had lifelink until end of turn it will lose it when the turn ends.
If you mutate on top of a vehicle the creature will always have the text box of the vehicle. If that includes abilities that only function on creatures then it will of course function as it is a creature.

For example I'm considering a snapdax, apex of the hunt commander deck built around sticking it on man-lands such as lavaclaw reaches or other temporary things such as orzhov keyrune and haunted plate mail.

Note, however, the mutate trigger won't re-trigger simply because you animate Lavaclaw. (in case anyone wonders)
