Last night I was playing with some friends and I cast Anger of the Gods. My buddy who playing a morph/manifest deck a pump card and saved most of his creatures. I know they are are already dealt 3 dmg from AotG. I then cast Phyrexian Rebirth to finish them off. I said the creatures are destroyed, but exiled. They don't go to the grave (because of AotG) but leave the battlefield (destroyed) through Phyrexian.
You are correct. Rebirth will count all of them and none of them will go to the graveyard. Destroy has no connection with going to the graveyard, Dies has a connection with going to the graveyard. Dieing isn't being destroyed, Dieing is specifically moving from the battlefield to the graveyard.
Wow. I was actually correct. Thanks for the confirmation. There wasn't a big stink about it, we've been playing for about 5 years so we have a good idea on how the rules work, but its nuances like these that get us mixed up.
