I am currently building a deck all about giving my opponents awful awful cards that hurt them rather then help, and soulgorger orgg just seemed perfect. However I am wondering if it’s ability will effect my opponent after I give it to them. Will they go down to one as well as me? Will only I go to one? Any response are appreciated.
If Soulgorger Orgg entered the battlefield under your control, you (and no other player) will lose all but 1 life when its enters-the-battlefield ability resolves, even if another player controls Soulgorger Orgg at that moment. This is because you controlled Soulgorger Orgg when it entered the battlefield (C.R. 113.8) (so the "you" in the ability will refer to you [C.R. 109.5]), and triggered abilities, "[o]nce ... triggered", "exis[t] independently" of their sources (C.R. 113.7a). See also this thread.
Soulgorger Orgg's second ability there will only make the player lose life under whose control it entered the battlefield. And it only enters the battlefield if it moves from a zone that's not the battlefield into the battlefield zone. The meaning of "you" in its triggered ability is locked in to whoever that is when that ability triggers.
Take it from me, I tried this years ago, and there are startlingly few ways to make a player put a card onto the battlefield under their control if they don't own it. But you can work that out.
