Is this a legal play?
I have Academy Rector on the battlefield. At the end of my opponent's turn I cast Plunge into Darkness for it's entwined cost. First, Academy Rector is sacrificed. Can I then utilize Rector's triggered ability before going onto the second mode of Plunge into Darkness? So it would go 1. Sacrifice 2. Search for enchantment to put into play 3. Lose X life to look at X cards?
Another question. I have Rector and Near Death Experience on the battlefield. At the end of my opponent's turn I somehow sacrifice Rector and put Necropotence onto the field. Can I then activate Necropotence once it is on the field so that at the beginning of the next turn I have 1 life?
PLUNGE INTO DARKNESS
Choose one —
• Sacrifice any number of creatures. You gain 3 life for each sacrificed creature.
• Pay X life, then look at the top X cards of your library. Put one of those cards into your hand and exile the rest.
Entwine {B} (Choose both if you pay the entwine cost.)
ACADEMY RECTOR
When Academy Rector dies, you may exile it. If you do, search your library for an enchantment card, put that card onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library.
NDE
At the beginning of your upkeep, if you have exactly 1 life, you win the game.
NECROPOTENCE
Skip your draw step.
Whenever you discard a card, exile that card from your graveyard.
Pay 1 life: Exile the top card of your library face down. Put that card into your hand at the beginning of your next end step.
Q0: this is the rumor mill board, not for rules questions.
Q1: No, Rector's triggered ability will only go on the stack after Plunge has completely finished resolving.
Q2: Yes, your opponent's end step doesn't end until both player yield priority. You'll have the opportunity to activate necropotence as many times as you please after it enters the battlefield from Rector's trigger and before your opponent's turn ends. Likewise they'd have the opportunity to bolt you and finish you off.

Just mentioning that Rector's on the Reserved List so will 1000% not be in Modern Horizons.
