I've noticed a trend on Arena. If it's my opponent's turn on their first main phase and they play a creature spell. I let that creature spell resolve. Don't I get another chance to gain priority before they move into combat phase? The game seems to just jump right into combat after I let their first spell resolve. I want to be able to cast my instant speed removal BEFORE combat, but after they have resolved their first spell on their first main phase. Is this possible in the rules of Magic? If so, seems like Arena is pushing pass this chance for me to receive priority again before moving to combat.
You can do what you want, you do get priority before the game moves on to the next step/phase. But Arena has default settings, for some of the more intricate stuff, you have to enable "Full Control". Your settings are what let you miss this opportunity.
Arena assumes that you skip priority checks for certain phase changes. If your opponent casts a spell main 1 that you want to act on after it resolves, o believe you can click on the Main 1 step to the left of your opponent's name to place a stop, reminding the game that you want to hold priority at the end of that step.
