basically, i'm familiar with the legendary rule. but i still have a few questions concerning my devotion deck, pls correct me if i'm wrong.
1. if i have a nykthos, shrine to nyx in play, i can tap it for mana and bring a second nykthos into play, sacrifice the first one because of the legendary rule and tap the second nykthos again. right?
2. if i have a garruk wildspeaker in play and play another garruk wildspeaker from my hand, what happens then? do i have to sacrifice the first one in order to keep the second one, just as with legendary lands or will both them die? all i want to know is if i'm allowed to use garruks ability, play a second (identical) garruk and use his ability again.
3. let's say i play a genesis wave (with 4+ for x) and end up drawing an additional garruk wildspeaker:
i already have a garruk wildspeaker in play, can i put a new garruk wildspeaker into play and "replace" the first one (in order to use his abilities a second time this turn, similar to nr.1) or do i have to sacrifice both of them?
1. Yes (assuming you haven't played your land for the turn)
2. You can use the original garruk's ability then cast the second one (and keep him) and then use the second garruk's ability as well.
3. You can put the new garruk wildspeaker into play - and choose which one you would like to keep (likely the new one since you want to interact with it). Then you can use him after G.Wave fully resolves.
i wasn't sure if planeswalker are treated the same way as legendary lands. i think i read somewhere that u can't replace identical planeswalker like that but anyway, i'm glad to hear that i've been playing correctly so far ^^
I think that was the old rules (before I got back into playing). I believe the current one is here:
From the Comprehensive Rules (Rivals of Ixalan (January 19, 2018))
704.5j If a player controls two or more legendary permanents with the same name, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners’ graveyards. This is called the “legend rule.”

It is a common occurrence in 8 rack to -2 Lily and then play another for the +1.
thx for clarifying!
