Hey there, thanks for stopping by!
So heres the situation...
I have 3 village cannibals and one xathrid necromancer. im attacking with two village cannibals and the xathrid necromancer. my opponent deals two damage to all attacking creatures. what happens?
I assume Lava Storm's ability has resolved (with the choice of damage to each attacking creature).
In the end, assuming all the abilities resolve, you will end up with three Zombie tokens (one for Xathrid Necromancer, and one for each other attacking Human). [EDIT: See also comment 3.]
Here, the creatures with lethal damage are destroyed simultaneously as a state-based action (C.R. 704.5g, 704.3) and the corresponding abilities will trigger (even if their source dies at the same time as the permanent referred to) (C.R. 603.2), and get to resolve independently of their source (C.R. 112.7a), but whether they do anything when they resolve depends on the ability in question. (The thing to remember is that although the abilities will trigger when certain permanents die, they don't do anything right at that point [C.R. 603.2]).
Although the ability of each Village Cannibals will trigger for each other Human creature when it dies, nothing will happen when that ability resolves if that Village Cannibals died at the same time as other Humans (since that Village Cannibals won't be on the battlefield for you to put the +1/+1 counter on it) (C.R. 400.7, 101.3, 700.4, 603.6c, 603.10a, 603.10; compare with Siegehorn Ceratops, which contains reminder text for a similar situation.)
The ability of Xathrid Necromancer will likewise trigger for itself when it dies and for each other Human creature that dies, even if Xathrid Necromancer dies at the same time as other Humans (C.R. 700.4, 603.6c, 603.10a, 603.10). And when they resolve, you still create a Zombie token (this ability doesn't depend on Xathrid Necromancer or any other permanent being on the battlefield).
You'll also have the one Village Cannibal that didn't attack on the battlefield too. That one will have triggered 3 times and will have 3 +1/+1 counters on it when the triggers resolve.
