I play Clever Impersonator copying nothing, but I have an anthem, like Ravos, Soul Tender in play to keep it alive. I follow this up by playing Progenitor Mimic copying the Impersonator. If I then have it copy a noncreature, nonland permanent, will I still get a token that's a copy of whatever it ends up as at the beginning of my upkeep, even though the text of the Mimic refers to the permanent as a creature? If I didn't have the Mimic copy anything after copying the Impersonator, the token I get would be of the Impersonator, but if I have the token copy anything, will it still have the upkeep trigger of the original Mimic? I know the token wouldn't produce one if it did, but bouncing the Mimic to copy a Mimic down the line adds upkeep triggers if I'm not mistaken.
If you copy a Clever Impersonator (that's not copying anything) with Progenitor Mimic, and choose to use the Impersonator's copy effect, it will overwrite the entirety of the Mimic's copy effect, including the newly gained triggered ability. There will be nothing to trigger and make token copies in your upkeep.
If you don't use the Impersonator's copy effect, you get token copies of it with the Mimic's trigger, and if those token copies copy anything, this will overwrite the triggered ability in the same fashion, since it was part of the Mimic's copy effect.
If you copy a Mimic with a Mimic, due to this overwrite of previous copy effects, the most you can get is two instances of the triggered ability, no matter how long the line of copy effects gets.
