I'm actively maintaining a comprehensive article to help explain to new cube players how some complex vintage level cards work in a cube environment. Vintage Cube Cards Explained
Pithing Needle and Suppression Field affect activated abilities even if they come from tokens (unless they're mana abilities). Note that "2, Sacrifice an artifact: Draw a card" isn't a mana ability since it doesn't produce mana (C.R. 605.1a). Note also, however, that there are no cards named "Clue Token" in the Oracle card reference (in general, if an effect creates a Clue token, that token's name is "Clue Token" [C.R. 111.4, 111.10f]).

EDIT (Mar. 11, 2020): Edited, including because one rule was renumbered with Core Set 2020.
EDIT (Nov. 11, 2021): Edited, including in view of announced changes with Innistrad: Crimson Vow.
Pithing Needle and Suppression Field affect artifacts even if they are tokens, such as the Clue artifact tokens (note that neither uses "nontoken artifacts").
I was thinking the same thing. The reason why i wanted to check was the judge ruled for the table next to me during legacy said you actually cannot pithing needle a clue token

No to Pithing Needle, as Tokens are not Cards, as far as the rules are concerned (edit: and there is no Card with the name "Clue", yet. If there was, you could name it and thus also shut down the clue tokens).
Yes to Suppression field, as the permanent that is represented by the token does have an activated ability.

Similarly, do cards like Suppression Field have affects on clues?
(Also, how do you add the card clue to the forum?)
